Citabria/Decathlon Brotherhood, ARF, kit build, electric, nitro and gas all welcome
EJ suggested to me to start this brotherhood since there was none around the Citabria/Decathlon, here we can shear, enjoy and brag about our models also we can use this thread to keep up with updates and mods as needed.
It will be nice if you can tell us a story or post pictures, maybe how you end up or why you have one of these two airplanes.
Please feel free to post pictures and videos of your pride and joy.

I own GP Citabria 30cc, its a new airplane in the market, it needed some mods before it was ready for the flying field, I have flown it seven times only, the WX and other things have limited the flying time, the few times that I have flown her have been awesome!
It will be nice if you can tell us a story or post pictures, maybe how you end up or why you have one of these two airplanes.

It'll be fun to see all the kits, ARFs, plans-built Citabrias and Decathlons in this thread.
I also have the Great Planes 85" Citabria in my "hanger", waiting for assembly for this coming flying season. Also have a Sig (69") Citabria covered, and waiting for paint. Plus, a set of plans and fiberglass parts for Hostetler's 30% (115") Super Decathlon. Yeah, I'm C/D-Crazy!

Here is my Contribution:
I got this used from a friend. He finished from a started frame he bought at an auction. We both believe is a plans built Citabria, but can't determine which plans company. The banner was supposed to say "FLY W/ US" but...... 1 the picture was taken from the wrong side, and 2 the "Y" flew off just before the picture was taken. Haven't tried another banner flight again.

I was able to go flying today, I got to fly my WM Chipmunk three flights and the Citabria two flights, the more I fly the Citabria the better is feels and the sound it makes when diving at idle from high above is just AWESOME!

I'm in. About 3 weeks into my Dynaflite SD build and lots of fun. Wood selection/substitution and modified plans will hopefully shave a good portion of weight. DLE30 power.

I neglected to add that I have two Bud Nosen 1/4-scale (105.5") kits, NIB. One original Bud Nosen, One A&A. There is a back-story to my Nosen Citabria kit.

[HR][/HR]Without knowing it, Bud Nosen was my wife's and my Matchmaker.
When my wife and I were dating, she was curious about the "toy" airplane that hung from the ceiling in my apartment. On the condition that she provide the picnic lunch, we spent part of one afternoon at the flying field (Ft. Worth, Texas) as I put my Aeromaster bipe through the paces. She was impressed. That was in the early '80s, back when R/C impressed the chicks.
My now serious girlfriend and I had plans for a trip to the west coast. I wanted to introduce her to my mother, and unbeknownst to her I had gotten current in a Citabria at the flight school that I learned to fly at. I had an afternoon of "fun" planned. Advice: If you take a girl on a date that involves parachutes, be ready for a little pushback.
This was the first time my girlfriend had been in a light airplane, so things were pretty gentle. A couple of loops and rolls were about all I put her through. I got her to take the controls and coached her through a few stalls.
That Christmas my now serious girlfriend made me the gift of a "box-O-lumber", Bud Nosen 1/4-scale Citabria kit. I started building it immediately in my one bedroom apartment. The build continued after we were married, and in our first house, and progressed into our second house under the "supervision" of our first born daughter. The partially built kit survived three more career-related relocations, and the watchful eyes of two more adolescent "supervisors". The final relocation for this almost-ready-to-cover project was in the Southwest in the late '80s. Yes, it did survive yet another relocation without incurring too much rash.
I was getting far-more enjoyment in raising our kids than in the hobby, so the hobby went into hiatus. I saw the Nosen Citabria every time I went into the garage. Same for my Aeromaster and my T-2A pattern ship. The Aeromaster and I went way-back, as well as the T-2A. It was the Nosen Citabria that haunted me, being that I had not completed and flown it. I ended-up selling it to a member of a local R/C club. He covered it and I did get to see it fly.
When my wife and I became Empty-Nesters, I got back into the hobby. I began collecting older kits that I had always wanted to build. Of course, I secured a Nosen Citabria kit. Although not the very same kit my wife, now of thirty-two years, gifted me, but the same vintage.
Now, the back-story on why my wife bought me the Nosen Citabria kit.

I am still building my GP Citabria, will have to wait to finish it after Christmas as my building area gets taken over with Christmas Stuff; anyways, if there is no Brotherhood Numbering Policy could I be Citabria/Decathlon Brotherhood Member Number#58

Now I have been flying a GP 40 size Decathlon for almost 14-15 years now. The kit started with an OS 40 FP, and then saw an MVVS 49, which currently powers it. Been in the hangar for some time now due to repairs required.
Then my second GP Decathlon (40) came along when I was given one at the field. The owner always had difficulties with his model and I used to fly mine. He gave away his to I, saying here you keep and fly this. Off course I gladly accepted and thanked him.
Recently acquired the GP 30cc Citabria that is slated for build soon (as soon as I finish my other projects).
Am I qualified to join the group?

Your Decathlon has been around for a long time! You must show it a lot of TLC.
