Default 120 or 140 turbine for Skymaster 1/6.25 A-10?

Really want to put the small can size KT120's in my A-10. It will save nearly a pound in the back and probably that much in the nose or more. I've always been in the grossly over power things camp, but coming to my senses... Does anyone have 120's and feel like thats not enough? I would like to fly it with ordinance occasionally. I had twin 140's in my yak-130 and didn't notice a difference in performance when I had the ordinance attached, and it was HUGE.

Thanks

Jet Central Cheetahs are the perfect engine for this A10.

Am I missing something here? I thought a Newton of power is a Newton of power and the turbines are rated by what they produce in power size by Newtons? Why would Jetcat brand your P-130RX turbine that is designed to put out 130N if it is really putting out "150+N"? Wouldn't Jetcat call it a P-150Rx turbine if it puts out 150N power?

When the project was started 130N was what they were aiming for in the small case size, they just did a much better job and it worked out over 150....in perfect conditions. The result means it will produce at least 130N even at altitude or in hot conditions. Turbines that ‘just’ make the stated figure will be below in these harsh conditions. JetCat tend to be conservative on their stated power on most of the range now. If you look around there are other turbines too above the ‘label’ size put on the box.

What is you’re expected weight with the 130’s Dave do you think?

I have no idea yet as the SM kit weight seems to vary from airframe to airframe, I've not weighed it as there is little more I can change so it is what it is! I have changed the heavy plywood turbine rails for carbon/wood composite versions, so I expect to save nose weight added to the two 130's over the P-160 Rxi-B I was going to use. I have flown a few A-10's and they don't seem to suffer with the weight even with big heavy turbines and lots of nose weight.
I'm going to have full stores, so lots of drag too!

Thanks Dave for reply. Are you doing a build thread or posting pics of it? It would be nice to see a updated build of one.

I haven't so far, but I will detail what I've done and found during the build. Should get a chance to start something next week

I'm now flying a Mibo A10, my last SM A10 had two Kt210s and weighed 74lbs with fuel had 2lbs of nose weight.
It was a joy to fly and belied its weight, with 90lbs of thrust was great fun.
