I've also heard of stuffing coarse steel wool in the muffler.... but this sounds like lots of back pressure to me.

I remember as a teenager flying a Magican 35 with an open exhaust Fox .35. Even in the 4-2-4 break, it was intensely loud. I flew Voodoos with the Fox .36X combat engine, again with open exhaust....

Ha! That's because Fox "mufflers" are merely exhaust diverters, and they always have been noisy.... there is no baffling of any sort, and the exhaust exit is quite large compared to mufflers on an...

I have regained my respect for the Fox engine name in the last year or so. The little Fox .15 is a powerhouse and I use it week end, week out flying combat, which is the toughest form of r/c flying...
