RE: Club FOX!

Good point about the mufflers, Earl. I still view them as something of an annoyance, while OTOH, I have come to view supressors for firearms as both a hearing protection and relief of annoyance...

RE: Club FOX!

The Quickie as I recall had pretty radical porting. I can't imagine one idling that well or turning a big prop. OTOH i have had a couple of 45s and several50s whichI think are on the same crankcase...

RE: Club FOX!

I think one of the most common causes for dissatisfaction with model engines, along with failure to read the instructions, is purchasing an engine for a use other than that for which it was...

RE: Club FOX!

As a couple of my other hobbies involve cleaning fish or field dressing deer, wiping a bit of oil off a model plane doesn't seem much of a chore.;)

RE: Club FOX!

In my youth (which continues to this day) i owned a number of motorcycles and sports cars from the UK. As a result I do not view leaked oil as any cause for a;larm.

To the contrary, if I see...

RE: Club FOX!

Interestingly my wife gave me a small crock pot for my engines yesterday. I cooked a very nasty (as bad as I have seen) Fox 59 last night and the results were amazing.

[/quote]Also those that needed crankcase pressure to run, could out run the prime before the fuel started to flow. I'm staying away from high performance engine with my statement.

RE: Club FOX!

Almost mandatory on what? Most of my engines, regardless of their continent of origin have started by hand. Exceptions being those designed for high RPM with small props, especially those for CL...

RE: Club FOX!

The first time I flew a CL combat model with crankcase pressure and the large venturi I was astonished at the increased power. I felt invincible until everyone else did the same thing. (About a...

RE: Club FOX!

I purchased a new Fox .74 a couple of years ago. Running on 5% nitro it was one of the most user friendly engines I have had. I flew it on my ancient Cunningham Lazy Ace that has been something of...

The mufflers for the current Fox 60 will work. Get one tilt-up and one tilt-down.

RE: Club FOX!

I like loud model planes, loud music, loud motorcycles, and loud guns. I suppose I have no claim to political correctness.

RE: Club FOX!

Assuming this is not a baffle piston engine with a corresponding slot in the head should the head not be rotated to be parallel to the airflow?

RE: Club FOX!

It seems that most folks view engines as some sort of appliance which they wish to ignore as far as possible. I find engines one of the more fascinating aspects of the hobby.

RE: Club FOX!

Jeffie, you will find few manufacturers stocking parts for engines that have been out of production as long as the baffle piston .15. I do expect that one will eventually show up on an auction...

RE: Club FOX!

I have a couple...

RE: Club FOX!

Jeffie, the Fox web page shows carburator model 2200 for the 25BB. It has the flange type mounting.

I don't have a 25, but my 15 has a round mounting which in turn fits into a flange adaptor...
