RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

I installed the new carb that came with the motor and started it for the first time and it runs perfect. It remains a mystery how tightening the carb would make it bind. I can see no defects in the...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

When I fully tighten the carb bolts on my Saito 1.25 the barrel becomes unmovable. Fortunately, I have a brand new carb available and the barrel remains free when fully tightened. I can see no...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Thanks for the good information. Have you been able to make a comparison between the two different heads? I don't plan to change the cylinder because my motor appears to be very new but I'm curious...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

I'm not sure that changing the cylinder would be cost effective. Just the cylinder alone costs $116. With the other necessary parts the cost could be very high.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Evidentially, mine's an "A" model. Is there any difference in performance of the "B" model with the FG-20 head?

Thanks for the info.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

$18.49! That's outrageous. Good thing they last a long time. I think I'll try Fox the next time I purchase a plug.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

I have two .82's that have had intake leaks prior to changing the back plate to aluminum. I even tried high temp silicone on the O-ring and still got vacume leaks. For $9.95 I think changing the...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

I once had a problem where I could not get my Saito .82 to start no matter what. I spent most of a day checking and replacing the entire fuel system. I also completely disassembled the entire motor....

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

I just want to add a small amount to a gallon Cool Power LS (low smoke) 30% synthetic. The LS has 20% oil, the regular blend has 22% oil and that's what I normally use. I bought the LS by mistake. I...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Does anyone know the calculations for adding castor to a gallon of fuel as in percentages? I think it was posted a while back but this thread is massive.

Thanks,

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

I always just tighten the prop nut with a propeller on to install the collet (flange). No heat necessary.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

It would seem logical that an .82 will not provide the same power as a .91. I recommended a fuel change in another thread and I still think that is the variable you are omiting.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Others may not agree, but I've always just heated up the block with the crank and prop hub in place. Then I place it on a block of wood and tap the crank out with a hammer. Leave the large prop nut...

Thanks for the information re Colman fuel.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Richard,
I love the sound and eveything about Saito's (except the oil and fuel cost), but this new generation of gas motors is undeniable. As of now, I don't believe there is a gas motor that can...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Richard,
High octane gasoline provides less BTU's and less horsepower than low octane. High octane does run cooler and allow higher compression and prevents detonation. I have heard that people are...
