RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

FWIW, the YS120, 16x8 APC and 30% CoolHeli are about as perfect a combination as I've ever run.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

I'll see if it gets better as she breaks in. IIRC, when the .72 was on the Buck Rogers (RIP) she wasn't such a sloppy piglet

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

I have fuel tubing on the vent, it runs "up" (the .72 is inverted) turns 180 degrees down and exits below the cowl. I get pretty much a continuous "slime" the entire bottom of the fuse :(

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Put three tanks through the Mayhem/FA72 yesterday, still only 6 minutes a flight, but did lean the low end out a bit. Hopefully as the rebuilt motor breaks in it will get better.

Can anything be...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Actually, if you but the big Sullivan starter (and let your colorblind buddy plug it into the flight box backwards), the .72 will start backwards almost all the time :)

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

I'll play with the tuning a bit more this week and try again Sunday and see what I can squeeze out of her. I'd be happy with 10-12 minutes at part throttle, as the plane flies very nice about 1/2...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

I've seen that rule of thumb many times - problem is none of my planes seem to have ever seen it :)

I can guarantee that if you apply that rule to my YS 120 F6F Hellcat (14 oz tank), 8 minutes...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

I must be running way too rich then - because I'm not getting much more than half that at half throttle. The motor is freshly rebuilt, so may still be a bit tight.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Had a chance to put 3 tanks through the .72 yesterday (Sig Mayhem 40) Flew nice on the 14x4W (discovered the "W" stands for "Wonce" - had a prop strike on the first landing and trimmed it down to a...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

many, many of those 1990's have been consumed in my pursuit of this hobby :)

Well, the Mayhem flew today! Motor is still tight, so I _think_ I only got about 8 minutes (12oz tank - need to see...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

I intend to put many, many tanks of fuel through the little Mayhem - I'm "practicing" for my 50cc Ultimate Bipe that's about 50% done right now.

I hear you on the cigar/fuel - but I have that...

Truthfully I've never found the centerline from the tank to the carb or closeness to be an issue, and I've run tanks high, low, close and far away. I often curl lines around and always...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Possibly. I know my YS120 was a little tight as far as low end when it was rebuilt - but no where near this bad. I've talked with enough folks who also run 30% on Saitos that I'm doubting that is the...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Grettings from LAX

I've put a fresh Saito .72 in my Sig Mayhem 40 (fresh because the well worn Saito .72 was on my Buck Rogers when it encountered a "localized gravity storm") :)

I'm having...
