No mine is factory, but I've been soldering since I was 12. I can't understand how soft solder would stand up to the heat generated. Perhaps it is brazed? Anyway good luck.

Great buy. I'd do it in a New York minute. O.S. makes some very fine engines. I cannot compare them directly as I own the OS 52 and a Saito 72. :)

Unless your geometery is the same, doing this will result in unequal throws. Do a CAD drawing and prove it to yourself. Hitec and a Futaba servos rotate in opposite directions.
