RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Don't bottom the pipe in the head and use plumbers teflon tape. Check to see if the pipe wiggles in the head before tightening the nut; you may have ruined the threads; ask me how I know!

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

I have a tank in my zero that is 2 1/4 inches too high; Jim at cline assured me his regulator would fix it. Haven't tried it yet, spring is coming late up here[&o].

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Sounds like a lean low end setting or a clog in your fuel orifice.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Have you tried it with 1/2 tank of fuel? this should tell you if it is a tank problem; it is the fuel level, not the tank height that causes the problem. Try a stack, it solved the problem on my 80...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Ken6- running the fuel out on a 4S does little (if anything) to prevent rust.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

I use plastic spinners on my 4S up to 120size; I have nothing larger. Don't let the spinner touch the prop and TIGHTEN the prop nut. Keep an Eye on things to prevent prop slips.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Run it for awhile and tune it. It should settle down. Have you leaned the low end yet?

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

At 85 degrees and high humidity you will notice a drop in power, as there is less oxygen in the air therefore you can't burn as much fuel.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Make sure you don't have the low speed too lean; this can affect the HS adjustment. Your low speed, although you are happy with the idle, it may indicate a lean low end.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

I have used 1/8 aircraft ply with 320 sandpaper glued to both sides. Have done this on a 91 saito so prop will clear cowl. I cut mine with a 1" hole saw and enlarge the center hole as needed. This is...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Clamp it to the firewall some way or the vibration is likely to break it.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Richen up the low speed and see if it improves. Too lean low speed can cause problems.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Try adjusting your 91 with a 1/2 tank. I have a 91 and it"s flawless on omega 15%.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

What size wrench were you using? I'm sure we would like to prevent this happening to our engines.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

I run a 120 on a 10lb pitts; I find a 15 x 6-7 the right prop.

I have a 15x6 on my saito 120 in a 10 lb pitts. I agree, it's perfect.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

If you can tune it properly the tip should have no effect. Look in the carb side with the needle out; does the brass hole look larger than the blunt end of your needle. if so you will be ok.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Hob, is there a reason your taper cut is sideways? I have a home made one on my 80 held with alum epoxy also; it has survived test runs and 1/2 of a flight, if you know what I mean. I made a flair by...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

My new 91 had no compression out of the box; spun it for a few seconds and it was OK. Checked the valve clearance and I could not discern any gap. Set the lash, goes like gangbusters in a 9lb RV3.
