RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

I have a ton of tanks in a box. All shapes and sizes. I have used even a 16oz on my 180s and still get 10 to 15 min flights with reserve. Not much full throttle doing aerobatic flying. I think the...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Wow Jimbo, that is quite a story. Sorry about the break-in. That had to be a stressful thing to go through. I've had some vehicles broken into and one stolen and it always feels like a violation....

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

A crutch is a proven piece of technology (maybe engineering), and it IS a crutch. :D Didn't mean to step on your technology. What I meant by 'crutch' is resorting to pumps or on board glow to 'fix'...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Hummmm, I am surprised to here that. Most guys I fly with don't use pumps or on board glow either. 'Keep-It-Simple' and as light as possible is the way I try to do things. Here is the way I set...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

You're not alone bro. It has been a tough time for us in construction here in Ohio as well. But glad to see a fellow modeler doing better.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

I've just not seen the need for glow drivers on my Saitos. They are all mounted at 90 or inverted and I have no idle issues. Adjustment is tedious but with fine tuning, I get good performance without...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

I never run pumps on my Saitos. I find muffler pressure to be sufficient if the low and high are adjusted properly. I will say that since I installed Turbo Headers on my 100s to replace the stock...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

You will like that engine with the 15 X 6 in that plane. You'll have plenty of power to keep you out of trouble, yet throttled back, it will be very scale like at a realistic sound as well.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

I always have a pressure tap in the exhaust of my Saitos, and don't run pumps on any of them. I find the tap in the Turbo Header to be a little more efficient than the stock muffler for pressure, but...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

This is very true. The 'load' has a lot to do with it. But, in my experience with them, the 150 actually uses more fuel than the 180. Not what you would expect.

Most 4-stroke engines I see are...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

This is a re-post for RC Specialists with comparison video. In the first two (with and without the Turboheaders) both runs were made at full throttle and you can clearly here the increase in RPMs...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

If you take the valve covers off, you can put oil in the valve bodies, replace the covers, leave the plug out, chuck the crank in a drill (all the way against the thrust plate so as not to get the...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Valves are stuck. I had a 72 that had not been run for a couple years. No compression. I removed the plug, put a few drops of light oil in the cylinder, left the plug out, used a hair dryer to heat...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

No question that most composite mounts are strong. Not the issue IMO. They do, however, flex and bend and metal ones don't. This flexing is enhanced by our 'paint shaker' 4-strokes. Appendages like...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Saito 100s all cowled in with the Turbo Headers installed. They are compact and are nice for these narrow war bird cowls. This is the third change to these cowls and hopefully the last. I had to...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

I would not recommend a plastic or even glass filled mounts. I have found aluminum mounts to be better for for strokes due to the vibration they produce which is hard on exhaust systems on flexible...
