I have the OS 70 in my Great Planes Cub 90 " and it is perfect for scale flying....the Saito 100 would be overkill if you like that...if you ever put floats on it the 100 would be perfect though....

Thanks for the reply Pope... I broke the engine in today and the back plate seems fine so far..I'll keep am eye on it for sure and replace with the alu replacement if needed.

have you first checked your valve clearances?....a slightly open valve could do it..

You think a 180 sucks a lot... you should see my 220... I only get about 6 flights per gallon !!!!...luckily I only fly maybe twice a month... 3 -4 flights each time.

Tried getting the low idle...

Also just checked www.rcbearings.com... a set of stainless rear and sealed front for the Saito 120 are only $12.85..plus shipping..
RC bearings has an excellent product and very quick service.

Learned my lesson the hard way also with hinges...I always pin them with toothpicks and glue in addition to epoxy...never had a problem since.

In watching your last flight video... I wonder also if your model was tail heavy or you weren't using adequate rudder in your turns?
Also it seems you were flying quite a distance away while doing...

I found my gear puller at the local Car parts distributor, Kragans ( now O'Reilly's)...was around 10 $..... had to use a round file on the puller jaws to get the best possible seating around the back...

I recently removed the prop driver washer ( as you describe) simply with a small gear puller ...took me a while to find one with long enough chuck to extend fa enough down. Didn't even heat the case...

Flycatch..I have the same engine / Saito 220 Nitro...my tank centerline is also 1- 1.5 inches below the main jet..probably same amount of distance ( 5 inch) from the tank.
I have however installed...

Maybe you could post a few pics of the size and placement of the 3 cooling holes? It might be a good idea to install some baffles which would deflect more cooling air to the cylinder head area.

SrT... I picked up a hand held temperature reader at "Harbor Freight" recently for about $16.-...they had larger version with pistol hand grip at about $40.-

Yes indeed...this was new wooden prop...I usually use fiberglass reinforced props ( or what ever they are made of)...I think the wood had compressed from the previous runs and loosened...stupid me...

Hey Guys interesting stuff, I bought a 220 Glo also and had the prop and spinner explode of the engine after back firing...I immediately bought the (Dubro I think) locking nut for double...
