RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

I don't prime the engine either when using the starter, no chance of hydro locking an inverted engine if there is no fuel in it.

I used the chicken stick for a long time to start my Saito, but...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

There is less than .004"(bites 2 sheets of paper) when you press the rod down with your finger at BDC. It is possible that something something was in there, idk. The seller is now stating that this...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Here is a picture of the engine I got recently. The seller is stating that this scraping is from tighten the prop nut down which pulled against the bearings and being pulled by the prop. Also that...

I gave $165 for it shipped. What do you guys think? Rebuild it, or dispute it.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

I feel almost no play in the bearings, but I can see movement in the big end of the rod. To be safe I'd need to replace both. I'm going to try and return the motor first. If not I'll tear it all...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

I pulled the rocker covers and found the exhaust pushrod had jumped out of its screw and was against the rocker arm. The intake had no detectable lash.

I then pulled the rear cover and found...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

I just bought a used 100. It's got good compression and seems in good shape except for being a little dirty and having a lot of carbon on the exhaust valve stem when I look into the exhaust port. ...

Yeah, please post a picture of it. Been thinking since I saw your post about a guy at the field who had one, back in the 80s when I was learning. Miss that guy, taught me a lot. Merry Christmas...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

I think I read the whole thread on the FG-20 here, and I don't recall anything either. I thought the hole was the same 1/4-28 as the glow version.

Not sure I want to loose the power either. ...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

It makes sense that it would run hotter, I was just wondering if it was close to being a problem. I see the crank has a different part number also. Can anyone compare the cylinders and see if the...

Can you slip the cowl back and get something on the drive? Maybe plug the exhaust with your finger for extra resistance?

@RC Specialties the pressure port I put in your 90deg adapter works good, you might want to add that as an option.

This brings up a very interesting point. The Saito instructions don't specify a point where...
