I haven't been on here in several years, I gave up the hobby, but still have some stuff left. What is a .65 Saito worth nowadays? Probably needs bearings, it's been sitting for over 5 years, but was...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Cool Power has a 4-stroke blend, 15% nitro, 17% oil, of which 50% is synthetic and 50% is castor. Good stuff. 15% nitro is plenty for a Saito, although I have heard of people using 30% heli fuel.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

I hate to hear those having problems getting parts; I just got phenomenal service from Horizon. I sent an old .65 (with air bleed carb), a .91S, and a 1.00 in for service. I wanted bearing changes in...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

ehillman, I use a flex pipe on both an .80 Saito and a 1.00 Saito. they are a tad louder, but the exhaust note is more throaty. Exhaust pressure to the tank is the only consideration. I tapped my...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

At 5-1/2 pounds you'll have a great power-to-weight ratio. You might not have unlimited vertical, but it ought to go like stink. My Cub weighs 11 pounds and flies very well on the old .65 at half...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Can't find the specs on the 120, but the 125 is the same as the 1.00 with a bigger bore. I expect the 1.20 was a bigger block, on the same framework as the 1.50 and 1.80. Seems that Saito si going...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Bill, I tried an experiment today. I had a muffler from a .91, and took the end off and mounted it on the 1.00 muffler. I figure that the ends are very similar, if not identical, in the size of the...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Another Saito 1.00 question: Ever since I started running this engine (mounted sideways), It had made poor power at full throttle, and all indications were that it was leaning out between about 80%...

Continuing Saga of the Saito I Can't Seem to Tune--

Here's my setup: 1.00 Saito, mounted horizontally, spraybar 1/4 inch above tank centerline, straight pipe removed, I now have a 90 degree...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Why is it that the newer Saitos have the carb offset to the left side instead of centered on the cylinder midline? It makes reversing the carb a bit trickier in some applications because it places...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Oh, I think I've hit onwhat I need on my 1.00. I went with a 14-7 three bladed prop. It will turn at 9600, right where I wanted. Thing climbs like a homesick angel now.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

HDB-- The .65 is a perfect match for any 1/5 scale, or thereabouts, Cub. I have a 1/5 Sig and use a .65. My plane weighs over ten pounds,(scale gear, lots of mods), the .65 gives plenty of...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

When you say "right" are you saying "correct" or do you mean "opposite of left"? On the P-38 the right-hand engine turns right, or clockwise (as seen from the cockpit) and the left turns left, or...

One would assume those are castor beans, right?

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Speaking of plugs--I have a problem with the pin on the Saito plug. I can't seem to keep a remote starter cap on a Saito plug, it vibrates off after I start the engine, so I have to remove the cowl...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

I had leaned the needle earlier, thinking that because my 5 other Saitos all ran with less turns on the needle the 1.00 should also. One thing I didn't mention in my last post. When I first fired the...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Another thing that might make his .65 feel like there's no compression is a "dry" cylinder. If it hasn't been run, or hasn't been run in a while, theere may not be enough residual oil around the...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Well, I tried something different. I put the 15-8 prop on my 1.00, started it up, let it run a couple of minutes and warm up a bit, then played with the throttle some. Mind you, for now I left the...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

The advice is great, fellas, and I will use it all. As I sat at work today, I thought about how the engine ran, and came up with three reasons, which are probably working together. One, the prop is...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

If I sat and read all 105 pages of this forum, I'd feel more like I'd had Spock do that neck pinch thing:)

Saito 1.00 question: I just mounted one on my WACO, in place of the .80 that was once...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Bill, thanks for the info, I was also PM'd by someone else with some of the same info, but you expanded it a lot. It's good to know my new engine isn't broke, gonna try to break it in in a week or...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Bill, A couple of pages back I told about breaking the tip off the little throttle stop screw; you suggested just grinding another tip on it. I tried it, it works fine. You saved me a whole...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

Bill- I had my .56 sitting on a shelf, knocked it off while moving some things around. It fell about 4 feet, landed on a carpeted floor; wouldn't you know it, but it landed right on the throttle arm...

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !

I just started flying my floatplane, I have a .72 mounted inverted. Tank height is okay, but I was having a heck of a time starting it, it flooded like crazy. With the throttle open two cliks above...
