RE: TBM Shock Jet

You can use the carbon fiber setup, just run 4-40 wire all the way through it, glue the ends with hysol and now you have a super strong pushrod with out having to buy turnbuckles.

RE: TBM Shock Jet

When you get around to hooking up all of your extensions for flaps, ailerons, and elevator(s) then use an ammeter to watch your draw when moving the servos. You will know when you have a problem amp...

RE: TBM Shock Jet

Your DX6i should work fine as long as it passes a range check properly. For the shockjet a 2 position flap switch will work fine. I use a JR 10x with a 3 position and never use full flaps. Flaps...

RE: TBM Shock Jet

Jim,

I did the same on my shockjet as well as coat the top of the engine compartment halfway to the tail. The BVM heat shield helps to dissipate the heat in the engine compartment and the...

RE: TBM Shock Jet

Mechanically, both sides should be identical down to the servo horns, how they are mounted, and even servo neutral position can make a difference at times. Are you able to post pictures of both sides...

RE: TBM Shock Jet

I'm using an old P-60 in the Shockjet and it is a good flying airplane. Takeoff on pavement is 20 feet, no flaps, with a climb out at 45 degrees all day long. Top ground speed is a hair above 100...

RE: TBM Shock Jet

Like I posted in the above quote. The shockjet is a great trainer and can bite you if flown otherwise. Take it for what its worth. I know they are capable of a lot of manuvers ,but after what I have...

RE: TBM Shock Jet

The Shockjet is a great little flyer...

When Iassembled my Shockjet the first time, Inoticed when installing the wing bolts that the balsa used was very soft in the wing. Way too soft for my...

RE: TBM Shock Jet

Freddy,

It had little affect on that particular landing. Most of the time it works great, but then their are some times that you need a little more braking power and that time was one of them......

RE: TBM Shock Jet

FWIW

Here is an example of when one may need brakes that work well and in this particular instance, brakes on the mains would have been much better.

RE: TBM Shock Jet

I have about 4 or 5 flights on the shock jet with the P-60. It flys very well on this engine and has plenty of power. My engine is the older version. This is a great airplane to get a turbine waiver...

RE: TBM Shock Jet

You will find a good build thread on the Shock Jet by searching in this forum. I used Hitec 645MG servos on all surfaces except for rudder (JR 4721), steering (JR DS811) and a Hitec HS82MG for the...

RE: TBM Shock Jet

The ducted fan jets rely on volume of air flow. The turbine powered jets rely more on speed of air flow therefore a smaller intake will suffice. Turbines need volume as well they just get it a lot...
