Mine also is powered with a Rabbit, thrust toned down to 19lbs, I fly it hard as my throttle stick is basically an off on switch. I have GPS speeds right on 140mph. I now have over 180 flights on...

RE: TBM Shock Jet

Funny thing today. I have been flying 30 to 35% gas planes for about three years. I recently built my shock, I have been so excited that the shock is about all I've been flying. Since Feb. 19th I now...

RE: TBM Shock Jet

Today I was able to get an actual MPH on my shock using GPS. Topped out at 128mph, I'm running a JC Rabbit V100 with the thrust reduced to approximately 15.5lbs.

Anwered all my questions as far...

I maiden my shock today.... five perfect uneventful flights. What a blast! It's a very stable aircraft, very relaxing to fly! The bug has bitten; already thinking about my "next...

RE: TBM Shock Jet

Because of the aft location I decided to use two LiIon packs with a regulator. I placed the two packs as far forward (on the top side) as I could place them, then added the SmartFly...

All done, just need...

RE: TBM Shock Jet

In all my gas planes the Tygon clunk lines get hard as a rock in no time. I found Viton stays flexible for a couple years if not more. Tygon works great for plumbing, just not clunk line IMHO.

Preferred clunk line? I'm now thinking Viton, I bought some BVM but it seems pretty stiff.

Andy,

Did you use the enclosed nylon hinges, ca hinges, etc.?

I've got the 92oz fuel cell too, haven't glued the fuse together but interested in the answer you get. I have to do a little...

RE: TBM Shock Jet

RE: TBM Shock Jet

I made my decision :) After speaking with Gerry for a while I made my mind up to go with a JC Rabbit. This should be a good engine in the SJ and will be great for something else in the future.
