RE: TBM Shock Jet

I haven't installed the 80oz tank but did install the 101oz tank that TBM sells. Just have to mount the tank on its side and trim some off the back of the equipment tray. There is a picture of it...

RE: TBM Shock Jet

The Kingtech is about a second slower from idle to max rpm. At a 1/4 throttle to max rpm about the same.

RE: TBM Shock Jet

The K-80 is perfect for it gobs of power. Cruise at half throttle or less. Only real problem idle thrust is a bit high and the plane doesn't want to slow down. I reduced the factory idle speed from...

RE: TBM Shock Jet

Guys you are putting way to much thought into cg on this thing. Balance at the recommended cg in the manual and go fly. I have mine set at the aft limit suggested by the manual and it is perfect...

RE: TBM Shock Jet

Easy answer for knowing where the fuse without the wings balances. While installing everything or making any changes or repairs easy to move stuff around to get the proper balance or at least...

RE: TBM Shock Jet

I agree with rcguy no ned to turn it down. My Shockjet was origanally powered with a JJ 1400 (same weight as yours)and changed out to a Kingtech K-80E and added a smoke system. Added at least a pound...

RE: TBM Shock Jet

Just set more or less level with the ground it isn't that critical. About 1/8 inch down with full rudder deflection is a good starting point. Differential isn't needed.

RE: TBM Shock Jet

You have plenty of flap in that picture. If you use the stock linkage make sure to put loctite on the screws going through the clevis and ball.

You will want to remove part of the former in front of the turbine. My K-80E didn't want to run quite right until I did. Photo of of the former in question. Also where I mounted my...

RE: TBM Shock Jet

CA hinges work fine on this plane. Properly installed and if you use enough per surface should never have a problem.

RE: TBM Shock Jet

Plenty of room for the starter with the 101 oz tank. A 24 oz dubro will fit over the turbine for smoke. Just leave some extra line so the tank will be easy to move out of the way for glow plug...
