Even disguised with the angle brackets that address can be pulled, some of the later scanning ones will recognize it and delete the brackets.

Notes are on the way. Hope they do some good for you.

Spec:

The FA-65 is still in production, the last of the "Old Breed" ABC single cylinder engines. Could be only a month old, could be ten years old. Or older.

i would like to turn a 13x4w on a v2 46 im running a 72 on one now and it has plenty to spare i think the 65 would do just as well . is the weight the same as the 72 the case looks the same.

Spec:

White box and TN carb, it's pretty new.

As I said, it's an ABC, and is fairly heavy, close to three ounces heavier than the FA-72.

But it will spin a 13x6 prop with no trouble. Or the 13x4W.

Well put me back on the books for a 125 GK. 1st GK I have had. It is a monster. I have not run WOT on it yet but I can't wait. It has way more than the 100 and 120 So I can see. Then again. My 120 has issues. Can't wait to get that running also. I may put it on a HOT four Star 60!!

That would be good..

LATER

And thanks agian for all the help!!

Spec:

Engine _ Weight (oz.)

_FA-40 _ 10.6
_FA-56 _ 15.5
_FA-65 _ 19.0
_FA-72 _ 16.6
_FA-82 _ 16.0
_FA-91 _ 19.6
FA-100 _ 19.5
FA-120 _ 28.0
FA-125 _ 21.9
FA-150 _ 30.0
FA-180 _ 31.0

All weights are for the AAC versions except the FA-65, which is ABC cionstruction.

The FA-125 is slightly less powerful than the FA-120, the advantage of the 125 is its lighter weight than the 120.

It's not the old one. The old ones cam in a one piece blue box. It out to turn a 13x6 around 9900 rpm. I just replaced the bearings in one and on 10% all castor it turned that speed. Great engine

Hey William
( good day to ya )
Personally, I would probably not be able to tell the difference in 1.20 vs 1.25 myself but, I dont understand how a 1.2 can be more powerful than a 1.25? Just curious.

Bill:

What it comes down to is breathing. The FA-120 is a "Big block" engine and the FA-125a is a "Mid Block" size. The ports and valves in the FA-120 are about 25% larger diameter than the ones in the FA-125. A 25% increase in diameter gives more than 1.6 times the port area. Bigger gives better breathing, more fuel and air in the cylinder, more power.

Ergo sum.

A 1.2 can easily be more powerful. Higher valve lift, longer valve duration, better cam profile, higher compression ratio. Same way a small block Chevy could produce more power than say a 350. Lots of way to increase power.

can you improve the breathing by working on the ports to get some of that 25% back without touching the valves. or just leave it alone

Not even. First a 4 cycle doesn't have ports like a two cycle you can mess with. Second , it's valves and valve train that make the big difference. Third, you aren't going to get a 25% increase doing anything. 25% is a HUGE increase

Spec:

You can play with the ports, but you can not enlarge the valves without a lot of trouble. The seats in the AAC engine are a plating of chrome over the base aluminum. Just lapping the valves can damage the seat, that's why I strongly recommend never trying to reseat a leaky valve - just get a new one.

The ABC engines were different, they actually had a bronze valve seat. Lap if you must, you wouldn't kill the engine.

For a fella with 500 model engines...............

The Saito, like all engines have ports. In the case of the 4 cycle engines they have a single intake port and exhaust port. Albeit short, a port none the less. You could enlarge, or reshape, or polish, or do all the sorts of things one normally does to an engine.

The intake port is where the air goes in, and the exhaust port is where the air comes out.
