I could be wrong, but I think Ed Moorman did a twin Sig Somethin' Extra.
We had a 12 lb turkey that I smoked on a Big Green Egg for the third year now. I used a ceramic insert that kept it from being directly over the coals. The heat comes up through 3 side vents like a Dutch oven. Kept it at 350F for about 3.5 hours with lot of apple wood chips tossed in periodically. The Egg cooks meat differently and the juice runs out when you slice the breast. Took the thighs and legs off an hour early and wrapped them. They were tender and juicy too. Cornbread dressing with thick giblet gravy. Cranberry sauce. Green bean casserole. Mashed potatoes stirred until they almost poured out of the ladle. Rolls. Apple pie with vanilla ice cream for desert.
I hope these pics make it to RCU okay. It's a pic of the nose of my stalled 4*20 build. One shows the hatch for the fuel tank too. One has the Saito 30 GK just sitting on the firewall with the cowl in approximately the right place. Thought these would give builders an idea of what is needed when building this for a Saito.
I'll redo these later tonight.

I am building that aircraft right now! Gonna use FX .25's though. I have it on hold for a bit, but plan to have it flying by summer. Cool plane. I also have the plans for the Magnum 80, which is the big brother for 2 .40's
Hey popey what did you think of barrys 30gk in that cowl,looks neat.I was expecting pix of a huge turkey that they cook in a big green egg?? i think they need to share those drugs around.
Turkey gives me the burps and farts. Tis nothing like having a rumble by the liver, and burping and farting for 12 hours. Damn, that was good turkey.

Thanks for sharing , never too much info . O.F. why would u put a saito in a cow ? Seems like a awful waste and I dont think the cow would like it either ! Cheers

THanks. I used laminating resin and skinned the cores with 1 millimeter poplar. Yes, I ordered the short kit. It was nicely done. It was cut out by a CNC router so the parts were very accurate. I modified how I built the fuselage a little. But it should build into a very nice plane. I am making mine a taidragger as well. I am building this to get twin experience for a possible larger scale twin model down the road. I have heard taildragger twins can be a little tricky, so I want to gain experience here as well.

I have had the plans for a couple of months and one of the Saito .30's for several years and the 2nd .30 about one month. I am going to run Graupner 10x5.5's, the 10x5.5 pulled my LT 25 much more authoritatively than the pictured 5"

Not knowing Club SAITO was on the forum, I posted questions and info on my FA-40 here:

I'm trying to figure out just how many variants there were to the pre-FA-40A and exactly which one I have.
So far I've found references to MK 2, MK 3 & 40S.
Any help will be appreciated.

Added to the stable Monday night with an 82a picked up at the local swap meet. A bit rough and will drop in new bearings after a good cleaning, but this one has the plastic rear housing. Engine is clean, only shows signs of sitting for QUITE a while.
Sure it's back in here someplace; was wondering the best place to grab the alloy replacement cover and if anyone has one kicking around.
I am a firm believer that drones will be the most serious threat to our hobby freedoms of anything in its history. True, C/P helis weeded out the less determined, (or patient, ie. stubborn) but with availability of complete, RTF drone systems with stab, PFV and GPS that gives return-to-home a one switch effort things have changed drastically.
Unfortunately I think the problem will NOT be persons with the maturity to learn the rules, (if not an active R/C enthusiast already) and follow them. It will be the idiot or someone with definite illegal intentions that will create the risk and resultant knee-jerk reaction.
I was in aviation on 9/11 so have first-hand experience with this already.Don't take this the wrong way; grounding everything was the only effective way to remove further threat. However, once that horse had left the barn I think any further attacks would have come at us sideways, (somewhere not identified yet). Grounding further flights for days, (or longer) after the fact and the ensuing regulations and enforcement do nothing for the freedoms we enjoyed before.

Thanks OKC, I might as well squeeze this in too, the .40a and the little .30. And their respective mufflers. I've never owned an OS .20 so I don't know how it compares.

I agree with you comments about drones and the perils they pose for our hobby and the real perils they pose to full size aviation.....the police here in Martinez,Cal. just apprehended a young culprit deliberately targeting a Police helicopter while investigating an accident.......just a matter of time.
