W, I replaced that .72 with a slightly used .72 Jim and I found in a Hobby Shop near where he lives. It's a plain Jane I paid $125 for and it runs great. It looks like I did OK on the deal. We have been having some serious storms here so I haven't run the .90 triple yet. The Flyin King is coming along well, I put the elevator servo in the rear hopefully that will offset most of the difference in weight between the Saito .80 and the .90 triple.

Being a cheapskate, the first time a service station charged me to inflate the tires on my car I know “Something Had to be Done.�

My first compressor was a 240v 1 hp motor from W.W.Grainger’s with a Chrysler V-twin a/c compressor, two 25 lb Freon bottles for the tank, and a used pressure switch from my water pump for control. Worked fine on the pressure but the volume wasn’t enough to keep up when I hauled out an impact wrench working on a car.

Since then I’ve trashed two “Home� compressors, I now have a 5 hp horizontal tank rig. Works well, but noisy.

So yes, I have a compressor, and have kept one at home for about 35 years.

I ran the the .90 triple for about 45 minutes this PM, it was a bear to start, the provided crab claw style connectors did not make sufficient contact to start any of the three cylinders. I finally used two Super Hot Shots and my ACE power Panel to energize all three plugs. After 15 minutes and 1.5 turns lean on the LS needle the glow power was not needed. This thing is smooth and quick to accelerate, the prop was an APC 12x8 I only used the tach to get 4000 rpm for ten minutes, then 5000 for 15 minutes and the remainder of the 45 minutes at 6500. Any suggestions on a viable three plug harness for it. Thanks. The rear mounted elevator servo should make the Flyin King balance perfectly with the radial.

The supplied glow connectors will work fine with two caveats – you have to have a battery that will deliver about 12 amps, and the battery ground wire needs to be at least 12 awg for the high current. The positive wire to the joint of the three wires has to be equally heavy. Even better if the wires are 10 awg. The battery could be three “Sub-C� cells in parallel. With a 1200 mah rating one charge should get you through a day’s play with power to spare.

You weren’t supposed to mention that. But it was only for member number 260, not 160. Since you are number 260, you got a deal. What you didn’t say is that it wasn’t a 125, and it wasn’t really a Saito either. It was an old Fox 40 with a broken crank shaft, and you sent me $64 to cover the postage. Haw.

This is the amount normally charged for shipping and handling. You will be expected to pay an additional charge for shipping and handling. This charge will vary according to the engine selected. As an example, the FA-30S charge is $164.95, ranging up to a S&H charge of $1449.95 for the FA-325R5D.

The FA-125 Concho mentioned has a S&H charge of $339.99, or $364.99 for the GK version.

It seems strange, but the S&H charges on the list they sent are exactly the same as they charge other customers as a retail price. Oh well.

Boy I don't know what fuel you ran that Saito full of rust on but it probably wasn't 20% castor oi;l. Here's a picture of a 25 year old Saito 45 with the bolt on head run on nothing but 10% nitro 20% castor oil fuel.

The latest revision of Saito Notes is dated 6/18/2006.

All who want a new copy are welcome to ask for them, and still no charge.

Now we get to the nasty. I’ve sent the notes to almost 100 people, but I have only 30 email addresses listed in the Saito Roster, that’s less than 10% of our current 322 registered in the club.

Iam new to SAITO power, but have an RCV and 2 ASP motors. My FA 65 has no prop nuts. Can any one tell me the crank size. Tried an 8mm nut from the hardware store, it stripped out?

The older 65 had just a single hex nut. But the newer one have a double pinch nut system.

There's room for either type on the old short shaft 65 if you run a 13-6 non wood prop.

The 8 mm nut didn't hold because the crank has a 7x1 mm thread.

A good hardware store will stock the 7 mm threads as well as the 8 mm, should be no problem. I do advise you to get two though, tighten the first on the prop, then the second against the first. If your engine ever has a healthy backfire you'll understand why.

Anyway, welcome. I've added you as number 324 to our Club Saito.
