Glad you like them charley,as a boy i used to stand at the edges of farm paddocks watching the fletcher pilot doing low passes between the wires and perfect low level hammerheads for the next pass.Sometimes i got so keen i'd even stand on the down wind side.
Barry your dad sounds like a whizz engineer,you were lucky to have that level of know how to help.Daytona beach has been famous down here too for as long as i can remember.Every motorcycle riding mate i knew back then used to drool over the bonnie and people our age still do.They bring quite big money now.As you know the mach 111 popped up about the same time as the 69 bonnie,the only thing they had in common was the fact that both had two wheels.

Pete, one of my wife's and my favorite movies is The Worlds Fastest Indian, even though I ride a Harley and I don't pee on my lemon tree.
I put new bearings in the second .82 I got from CC, it didn't need a new ring, it just needed the castor cleaned out of the ring groove. The Corrosion X took it right out of there over night. I bought an etching tool to mark Saito mufflers, so many of them look similar but are not.

Hey Thank you that is quite an honor! That is her ok but she only weighs about 1/3 that gals weight. Light enough that I don't need a Harley to haul her about. She rides her Honda Silver Wing pretty well. She has had quite a few Hondas since getting her little CB-160 back in 1969.

Years ago in Wellsville, Ohio there was a motorcycle dealer by the name of Charlie Johnson, he sold BMW, Triumph and was one of the earliest Honda dealers. He let me test ride a Honda 160 Dream, gutless is not a strong enough word to describe how anemic it was. Later he let me try a 300 Dream, much better. He rode an R 69-s. I rode my 1962 Harley Pacer 175 into the 70's, almost bought a Sprint a few times.

That "gutless" little 160 was the first bike for a new rider at age 16. She learned a lot about riding on that little bike and often took long trips on it.
The little 160 would run at near 80 mph which was entirely adequate for road travel. Nice thing was, unlike the typical "American" bikes of the day, it did stay in one piece for mile upon mile and did not scatter its guts on the road
Ever wonder how long that 175 Harley lasted? The Sprint wasn't at all a bad bike. Made by Aermacchi the Italian aircraft maker.
The 1983 GL650 Silverwing she rides now has proven to be a very "Gutsy" ride that will flat outrun many Harleys twice its size and it too has remained a very solid mount.
I'll take guts in the saddle over a bike that scatters its guts on the road any day.

my brother's first bike was a Honda CB 100, a few years later he had a Sportster, it was a true late 60s chopper, he totally rebuilt it from the ground up, it must have been 9, 10ft long

Rest easy Dave, I never hated Harleys. I see them for what they are.No need or room to hate inanimate objects.
BTW, I said the rider had guts.
The little, gutless Honda was passed from my wife to her little brother who is 14 years younger than she. Her brother has passed it along to his daughter. It still has enough guts to carry her down the road at full highway speeds.

has any one tried a plastic 13X10 on their Saito FA100, if so how well did it run ??,,, Pete, how about you, did you try one on your Midget Mustang ??,, buddy

as long as the 100 is loaded with all that pitch it should run well, and accordingly to Mr, Lee's test it should turn a Zinger 13X10 around 9.100, yet an APC should turn some 300 RPM higher

The Norwegian wood-cutter just called Looks likre we got an envelope from a fellow in need of a Saito FA-100 do it yourself kit. I will gather up the bits and send them on Wednesday.
Dr appointment , voting and club meeting tomorrow so I wont have a chance till then.
The engine is quite fit to run as is. I only bought the new case to have one on hand in the event bearings were needed. You could just run till then.

Cap, to see the Mustang, click on my link below, I was just working on it's wings.. the 70 I was talking about is the OS 70sz Heli engine, I have an OS Regulator for it that will mount right on it's Needle assembly, it should turn an APC 12X8 around 12,800 on 20% with the 61 FX muffler,, I think it will be a good all around engine for it considering I had the OS 61FX in my GP ShoeString (span 62"), and the Mustang should be a faster plane.. I would put my new K&B 100 in it, but it's muffler is about 1/8 to long, it will hit the inside/top of the cowl, it's muffler is hogged out and it should turn an APC 13X10 around 9,800 to 10,000 on 15%

I'd reconsider your engine choices jim.My midget is smaller and a whole lot slippery more than yours pard.Your ring a ding vibrating smelly two stroke powered weedwacker midget would'nt see which way mine went,it's faster than an emu!

Jim, would the 100-T fit in there? A mere fun suggestion.
Pete, supposedly there exists reduced size plans that can be expanded and printed in the size I need, I just have to find them. I am not getting panicky. The 1.30 could work on it too.

hey Dave, that sure would accelerate that little Mustang in a snap.. Mr Lee's test says the FA100 will turn an Zinger 13X10 at 9,100, so an APC should be up around 94,, 95, hmmm, I wonder what it will turn an APC 13X13 at

Yep, I understand. I like them all but that YS 91AC and its extended family are flat-out my favorite all around engines. The 1.15 WS in particular is a very smooth engine. I mean smooth as in very low vibration levels compared to all other 4S single cylinder engines in the 90 to 1.25 sizes
Still, there are a few who had bad luck and hate them. Different strokes....

Somewhere around here there's a photo of me taken around 1955. I was sitting on the gas tank of his Bonneville.
