Welcome to Club SAITO !
My Feedback: (1)
this must be a joke on me lol
OK, so here is my solemn promos to the whole of the RC flying community, I am done buying from Wold Models, AND, if I have 1, just 1 (one) more problem with this "never flown" World Models P-40, I well remove all servos and RX and engine and I will take it out on the drive way and destroy it with my feet, and then send a photo of it to Worlds Models and to Airborne Models,, it's too bad because I really want to fly it !!
so to day, the new problems,,
1) the engine mount is junk,,,
the Tabs that the engine mount's to are not "Square" to the Tabs that mount to the Engine Wall, this mean's once the engine is mounted to the mount the bottom holes that mount to the Engine Wall "Toe In" while the holes on top that mount to the Engine Wall "Toe Out",, so all 4 holes do not align well with the holes in the Engine Wall !!!!!, this creates a problem when aligning the engine !!!!! BTW, I have 2 of these WM 50 mounts and both sets have this same problem,,, go figure,,,
2) flaking plywood,,
the plywood around the front of the fuselage is flaking "delaminating",, yes CA will fix the problem today in this spot, but the question is, will the problem become worse as the plane starts accumulating air time and more and more vibration ?, most likely it will become a problem again..
3) Fuel Tank split where it fits the plug
4) and today, because I was so frustrated with the above. I screwed up,
I am one of those people that admits when he screws up, and I did, but it was because of the frustration due to the above, and all other problems I have had before hand with this plane,,
well I had mounted the battery pack and I realized I forgot to install shrink tubing to the wire, it really needed shrink tubing because where the wire would run,, to add shrink tubing I have to remove the plastic plug,.. well as I removed the Prongs from the Plug I forgot to cover each individual Prong with tape, well the Prong touched/the wires burned, god I could have started a fire in my house.. anyway, I can change the wires, but I wont, it's a NMH and I wont trust it any more,
oh well that's the hobby
Jim
I got me some Saito

LOL yeeaa I can guess LOL,, but I'm no super man with wood, and I would have to setup for that and buy more tools, I guess I could try, because I can never find what I want, I would like to have a P-37 (pre P-40) or even a P-36 built as an open cockpit racer with fixed landing gear with wheel pants..
and I forgot to add that it took 3 hours of sanding and fitting sanding and fitting to fit the belly pan

o
Pete, after you have bought it off Ebay for $1200 you know what would happen, you would find some one selling one NIB on RCU for $115 shipped and you would have to buy that one too so you could sell the first one for $500 to get some money back
Jim
I like Saito,,,, and Cheese too

Jim check out this seventies ducati 450 single, brilliant orange paintwork with black stripes, ain't it pretty?
C'mon mike you know you can dribble a small amount of pva over small arf's it's an easy way to fly small block saito's
Jim i reckon your right i'd get flea bayed right out the back door, but it would be fascinating to find out how many where made and it's history, not to forget hearing one getting the berries on the throttle. All of that kind of reminds me about missing out on a ducati 450 desmo once.
Back in 1980 I bought a basket case 450 Ducati Desmo Scrambler from a fellow at work Spent two years putting it together as a flat track styled bike.
What a lovely sound it made! Another one that slipped away but should have stayed.
BTW, I painted it yellow to match my 1974 750 Sport. They made a lovely pair.

Gary just booked one of these in for a full repaint, paint is all original. He spent six grand on the engine and it's polished like a jewel will post a pic in a few days, they never looked this good straight out of the factory.
Dave do you have any more info on the fa30sc,did will robison talk about the engine elsewhere here?
Gary ducati mixed up their yellows and oranges at will back then eg the silver 70's 750 and 900 round case desmo v twins had a turquiose green frame. That paint was used because ducati had heaps left over from painting the outboard engines.

I've been out of town about 15 minutes south of Boston, Mass. 2nd Hand Lions is one of my favorite movies.
Pete, I don't know if WR mentioned the 30 S-C anymore or not, Barry condensed his note by at least 50%. A lot of it was repetitive.
I don't get into prop dynamics they all will fly a plane and I know that bench running reveals no useful info beyond rpm.
There, am I caught up?
PS, I have never owned a 1.80, I don't know why, I just haven't. No word on the PA 36 plan's yet.

Something like this, https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01LY9SZ82...d_i=B01LY9SZ82
if that will work it would be the thing to use on scale planes with tight cowls like my VQ p-40, when time comes I will look into it
Jim
Thats what I am wondering. My B-25 will have a pair of NGH-38cc gas engines that have a short stack for an exhaust, and will need to make something that fits better.
Now Dave,at your age you should tell people your just gonna wander off,you could end up doing a big dementia lap and end up back in your own garage and think 'that's what i was gonna do' and start the harley. You could do yourself some mischief on that big barge of a jigger.

Should I do a "walk about" or a "ride about", the ride about might end up being 200 miles or so. My little 30 is back, it beat me home, I have an APC 10 x 6 coming to compare to a Graupner G-Sonic 10 x 6 and a Xoar 10 x 6. Should be interesting.

Raulph that is the best decoti pic i have ever seen. Cool
so i know i come and go here but work has been fruitful and i have been blessed.
So anyway I managed to get a Saito.65 off eBay a while back and it was missing the intake and carb so I found that i had a spar .80 intake and carb and with a little reaming i now have a Saito.65 that will turn a 13X6 at 11200RPM’s.
I think I might have a race engine for a good 50 size P51.
