The maiden flight of that Cub shocked me. I throttled up, and within 10 feet, the plane went straight up vertical and climbed like a rocket! Took quite a bit of down trim to settle it and now when the radio is on and neutral sticks it has a slight down trim on the elevator. When putting I have to give a little up to stay level, because the moment I hit WOT it will pitch the nose up and just GO! Guys at the field just shake their heads and say, That's not right.

Actually that is right, with the thrust line being well below the drag,(wings), that leverage is going to rotate it right upward..

+1 Dave the decathlon with fa82 does that and the high wing boys usually get away with too much throttle to early on take off because the stalling speed is very low and they leap in to the air quickly.If you fly a low wing slippery plane with a higher thrust line and greater takeoff speed while applying power too quickly it wants to nose over,to such an extent that they sometimes will not leave the ground unless you throttle back,which i only did because i was running out of runway and looking at weeds.The midget mustang was probably doing twice normal takeoff speed and just leaped into the air once the throttle was pulled back to idle.

I learned that real well with my 110" Mud Duck, I got enthusiastic and put my Saito 150 on it. The elevator did not have nearly enough authority to keep it from climbing at anything above 1/4 throttle. I down sized to my old high compression Saito 80. That was perfect for it

not to change the topic, but I am,, the wife can home yesterday with some Weed Cream, that's right, "Weed Cream", she has bursitis in her leg and a women she works with gave her the cream, wow, it's like $30 for 2oz,, well last night she put the cream on her leg before she went to bed, and today she said it was the first night her leg didn't bother her in a long-long time,, well, the other day I sprang my finger,, sO,, I put this stuff on my finger about an hour ago, and now my finger is feeling better,,, but the thing is, the house smells like a joint factory, I told her that she better not use it before she goes anywhere because people will be thinking she's been smoking the stuff, and what if she gets pulled over by the police LOL.. BTW, the stuff is eatable, but I'm not going to eating the stuff

Jim, the Mud Duck flies at about 30 mph, no amount of coaxing will make it go fast, basically when it's moving, it's flying.

Don't start feedin that stuff to your Saitos.

I have been taking Hemp oil, and it sort of works, but not enough of the good stuff is in it. What you have to watch out for from any of the Hemp products is to make sure it doesn't have TCH in it, that's the drug in MJ that makes you high. My work does random drug testing so fingers crossed, there isn't TCH in what I have been taking.

Well, I've been looking for a Mud Duck for quite a while now. A sport model possibly. Looks like a "Ton-o-Fun". I'll certainly be glad when a test for THC will be developed similar to alcohol !!!! And used for an Industry standard !!!!

Dave your old hi comp fa80 looks way too small for that mud duck,it's huge!

Hijinx don't feed your old fa120 on thc you'll lose a heap of revs buddy...i once threw a mars bar past a doper at a party just to watch him move.The medical benefits of medicinal grade hemp oil are well known and you don't get the munchies.

ps triumphman you are spot on,we live in a mining state here with fifo (fly in fly out) workers.It's why we have a huge ice problem here.

Tom also made an Agri Duck, his wife is holding one. I went right to his hose and bought mine. That looks like a big Saito on the one. Can't be sure.

I bought a unused Saito 91 on Ebay and the seller included some propellers that he said were for this motor. Four of them were Dynam 11x7 3 blade props, part # DYP-1017. They seem a little light to me like maybe they are for an electric but have no experience with three blader's. It looks like Dynam sells a lot of electrics planes. How do figure out what 11x7 3 blade is equivalent to in a 2 blade? (Tried to post pictures but I am still short of the required number of posts)

As strong as the 91 is a 13x7 or a 12x8 three blade would be more like it.

That's a weird looking plane dave,it's a saito but i can't zoom the pic to see more details.I'm guessing the prop is a 14x6/8 you'd want an old fa91 for it at least.I'd fit my fa220 and 20x8 mas classic to the agri duck so i can spread the bulldust/fertiliser faster,but that's just me.

Good morning/good evening Pete, if I were to hazard a guess I'd guess that is a 120 with the early fire hose nozzle muffler. But, like you I can't see it well enough. It appears to have a black and gold sticker on the lower crank case, I don't think a 91 would have that.

In the past few months I am getting back in and I have been resurrecting my old engines as well as picking up few more used ones off Ebay. I have gotten real comfortable tearing down, cleaning up and rebuilding several Saito 65's, 80's and 91's. I bought a 1/4 scale Sig Extra 300 and am going to put in it a Saito 180 that I picked up. It has proven to be a little more challenging than the smaller ones in a couple places. It definitely needs new bearings but I cannot budge the front taper bushing and drive hub. I have a nice 3-jaw puller and I heat it good but it won't budge. I rap on the end of the puller screw hoping it will crack loose but no luck. The other problem is the rocker arm pivot screws. Using a good properly sized screw driver and applying some heat but it won't budge either. Anyone have a suggestion, I have been cautious with the heat but maybe its not enough......Thanks, Mike

Mike you could try dumping the engine in glow fuel for a week or two but don't use heli fuel,it's bad juju.Has anyone tried pre heating a saito in the oven before trying to unscrew rocker arm screws?

L to R 125, 100 and 65 mufflers.
No worries there Pete, the fire hose nozzle was a 14 mm muffler the 125's is a 13 mm pipe with an absolutely huge muffler. If that puller is any account it should pop the driver off easily, the rocker pivots require a hard, precise screw driver. I use a screw driver on which I narrowed the blade to take advantage of the larger handle.

I've used a paint stripping heat gun, got it smoking hot then put an ice cube on the shaft. If done correctly it may even make a popping or cracking sound, and should pull right off. The rocker pins need a very good strong screw driver that fits the slots 100% or they will bugger up. I soak the head in denatured alcamahol.
