On the Regular Sullivan I used a flat style:

This is on the Large Sullivan starter. Cut off the projection and use the motor's thru studs to bolt on to the starter tail.

This is the one used later, on the small Sullivan. Either one works on either starter but I actually like this one a bit better. Both have the USB output as well.

Gary, thanks for the starter/battery info, much appreciated. What I really want to know is where those graphics came from for your yell/blue SSE.

My long time flying buddy, Tim came up with the graphics layout. Aside from the "YS" and Sig stickers, all done in MonoKote.

Find an old curio cabinet. The LHS that closed last month did just that for his engine collection.

Amazon has a whole slew of adapters for battery packs. Even found one where I could use the new 20V packs on my existing 18V PC drill and sawzall. Still looking to see if I can find one I can adapt the PC batteries to for the starter.

That engine was in a crash that cracked the cylinder. You can see the ooze from running it.

Yikes, a cylinder is in the forecast me thinks from a crash. Looks like it was run spot on for fuel mix though. How does cam, lifters and upper end look?

Crunch,

Next time try twisting the screws out before using that 100,000 ton rated Promax Puller to yank the head off.

Default Pinky Saito

As promised here are a few photos of Pinky sitting in his future home. The Pete N Poke isn't pretty but a little sanding and TLC along with some covering when it comes in should do the trick. The workmanship appears to be good so far. I will need to complete the build such as install a second diagonal brace for the wing struts. I'm not sure why it was omitted by the original builder. I was able to download the plans and manual so I can get a handle on what needs to be done. I hope to have the Circus Pink Monokote on hand this week. The airplane was drilled and blind/"T" nuts installed to mount a 2 cycle OS .40 so that will need correcting. For a give away airplane it is surprisingly complete it even came with the main wheels and pushrods. Great Plains recommended a .32 to .46 2 stroke or a .40 to .52 4 stroke so I think Pinky should be a great engine for this bird. The manual recommends a 2 1/2" spinner which I do have on hand but I think I'll keep the spinner nut Pinky already is wearing. I don't want anything hiding this Saito!

Say Captain, you sent a 11-7 wood prop (THANK YOU!) have you ever ran a 11-6 or 11-5 on this engine? I have those sizes on hand and was wondering how they may work with the .56. Otherwise I need to pick up more 11-7 props when my covering comes in. I hate the idea of going to the field with just one prop, rates right up there with not having spare glowplugs. I know if I don't have a spare I'll find a way of breaking it.

Mike

Mike
the 56 will turn that 11-7 wide in the 10-1100 range.
I found that the 11-7 works the best for how I fly.
Dave or Gary would have to chime in here and say what they found.

Yeah, I have seen him fly, you might want that 11-6

J/K, Crunchy puts in more hours flying in one month than I do in an entire year.

A bit behind this year with all the work on the house. Only burned 12 gallons since July 01.

Still have a fist full of vintage 11-7 props that were the setup . How many do you want?

That's 11.87 more gallons of glow than me, and that was used in tuning, never got off the ground. I don't think I used more than 10 ounces of gas either.

I will take whatever you can spare, thank you!

I came up with a budget idea on the decoration. Since I plan on a red/white checkerboard fin and rudder I was thinking a red Cub style lightening bolt cut from a trim sheet might look quite nice on the fuselage. I'm still thinking on the wings. I would like something to indicate the top of the wing verses the bottom of the wing. Les my buddy who donated the plane suggested poke-a-dots for the bottom.

pink with white poke a dots. Hmmmm
that might make people think you were in the sauce a bit too far when you covered the airplane. Lol
red checkers on the bottom might be the way to go.

They will probably already think that when they see the color of engine and the airplane! Lol! What if I used red instead of white for the pok-a-dots? I might have enough for checkerboard stripes I'll see when I cover it. One thing you got to say you won't see another one like this airplane at the field EVER.

FlyerInOKC, I've started to like black invasion stripes on the bottom for high vis and orientation.
I haven't flown much either in the last 20 years. Working on that, 3 trainers being prepped right now. found a local club that is only 40$ a year.
My Sig Kadet Sr is on the short list after the 3 trainers. Has a Saito .65 in the nose. drastically down on power. Enough so that I don't feel it is enough margin to safely fly the plane. I have a new ring, just need purchase some bearings from Boca bearings and then work up the nerve to open the engine and perform surgery ( at least it sorta seems it). Maybe strange coming from some one who grew doing major (even rebuild) repairs to his ride to just so he had a ride.

40 bucks that's cheap! I would not call it strange at all Ken, two totally different animals. If you decide you don''t want to try rebuilding the .65 yourself talk to Captcrunch44 or Jesse Open. I think both of those guys could do the job in their sleep and still do it better than I could awake. You would know the job was done right..
