Sorry, not those. I just sold a Liberty Sport. Have a Dynaflite Fly Baby which is a natural for the Saito 182 Twin. Also have the Andrews Aeromaster, and the real sweet, modern "Arrow Master bipe kit from Alien Aircraft.

Tried something new last night. I dismantled and photographed a Saito FA-120S before offering it for sale, apart. It got snapped right up! Will be doing just that with the rest of the engines I sell.https://www.rcgroups.com/forums/show...to-FA-120s-Kit

Now that I think about it, an Ultimate Bipe 10-300 is the only one I think I would buy if I found one. I would only use it to template the parts though so I can repair the one I have.

Is it posted here or on another site? I checked out the Alien site Aand reviewed the build manual. Looks like a well designed kit. I like the idea that they tell you where to get the fiberglass pants instead of including vacuum formed plastic.

The third new Boca rear bearing I've had fail within the last year was in my 115 today.

35 min of run time (very rich) and a rattling sound at idle reared it's ugly head. Jiggling the prop it feels pretty loose. This is the first hard chrome Boca to prematurely fail on me, the others were stainless and failed in a 62 and 82 within an hour as well.

As usual Boca apologized for my inconvenience and shipped a replacement. Great group of guys there at Boca.

You really need to stop beating on it with a hammer to start it. I have a new bearing in my 72 that howls, but no play in it at all

Anybody heard from Hobbsy? I shipped him a big box of Saito and he seems to have gone away. Hope he didn't drop the box on his foot!

Haven't used a hammer to start an engine but I have used one to end a few. 2 Fox 40's and a ST/Como 51.

Howling bearing but with no detectable slop? Hmmmm, new one on me.

using spackling past on balsa ??

guys, I know people have used spacking paste on Bass, but knowing it has water in it will it work on Balsa without raising the Balsa ?? I have some testing now, but I feel the truth wont be shown till all water has evaporated, so maybe tomorrow,,, what you think

it's story time

so I thought I would tell you all this story this guy told us at the field. to add we have not seen the guy in some 15 years.
so the guy said he was setting at home and he started hearing this noise, it was like a snapping sound but it kind of popped too, it went snap,,,, snap,,,, snap,,,, snap,,,, snap. he couldn't figure out what it was then it hit him and he jumped up and went quickly into his work shop and there it was right in front of him,,,,,


it was his young son about 6y.o. standing there with a screwdriver punching holes in the wing of his Four Star. the guy said "I had a little talk with my son"

I use the light weight premixed spackle that turns white when it dries on balsa all the time. Works on drywall too.

Red Devil or Dap lightweight (non vinyl) spackles work ok. I haven't tried the vinyl spackles so can't comment on those.

Elmer's Carpenter's Wood Filler is creamier and doesn't ball up and crumble like lightweight spackle. It's a little heavier but not problematic for filling purposes. It also adheres much better than spackle, it's closer to the color of balsa and sands easily. Thin with water if needed.

Note: Don't buy the Elmer's "Stainable" wood filler, it gritty and doesn't apply well.

The best wood filler I ever used is too heavy for models. That would be Bondo.

I have used those light weight fillers, but didn't like how they balled up when sanding. If you sand too aggressively little rubber like balls are created and wind up gouging the surface. I went back to the Hobbico filler. Getting it to stick is the hard part, but it sands well without balling up. It the process of finishing up the B-25 center section, lots of filler needed for the details. Waiting on the one Nacelle to dry now so I can finish sand and glass it, the other one I just finished glassing it.

I actually use body putty to fill in low spots after I am done glassing and priming and did the wet sand. Works pretty good, but I wouldn't use the body filler, way too heavy.

thanks guys for the replies. I have some Bondo brand "spot putty" (red), it was my dad's, it must be for auto use. I am testing it also, I just checked it and it feels dry but the thing is to test it I used a brill to make a divot in the balsa and in the divot it wicked it's self into the balsa so the divot remains.. the spackling past is dry too but it shrinked a bit on one side of it's edge so I would need to add more. but the good point is they are not raising the balsa like water would
