Aww crap, just realized, I don't know which direction to close the throttle on the radial. It has a 90* uptake on the throat so can't see the barrel and I sure as heck don't want to take it apart. It uses a sliding barrel with spring pressure. I don't want to assume, but doesn't the spring push the barrel to closed?

It does. You can double check by putting a hose on the fuel line, Open the HS needle a couple of turns. Now try blowing in to the hose. At open you can, closed is a lot harder to blow.
Also, the arm side of the barrel should move outward slightly from carb centerline as the throttle opens.

HahaA Saito conundrum. A pin in the little peep hole they put in the carb snout to keep you from hydro locking will tell you when closed or open.
But you could always start it at mid throttle throw and reverse or not the servo depending.
Lock it down first though lolAlso get a sense by sound (sucking) by simply rotating with a starter motor and manipulation of the throttle.
HmmmSeems like I may have forgotten to mark it with a sharpie before bolting it in before also. Duh
My OS radials don't have the upsnout lol

My new FG-11 is due any day. I will probably use the stock ignition for a while but using the original, methanol carburetor. The gasser carb stored in the rotary file.

The HC, dual plug, big carb FA-65 is coming along nicely as well. It will be getting an RCexl dual output, twin cylinder ignition to fire both plugs.

I just had an interesting lesson in the Metric system. Been trying to determine the weight of Bond paper used in plans. 20lb is the common paper weight sold for the plotters, but I have a few reams of 20lb copier paper. I can see through it, which means, it would not make very good plans. I grabbed the plans for the Corsair and measured them out. 24lb paper is 91gsm, grams per square meter. I measured 40 1/4 x 60, converted to meters, 1.022 x 1.524, then multiplied the two to come up with the amount of swuare meters the plan is, then weighed it on my gram scale. 143 grams. 24lb paper is 91gsm, so 91*1.56 came up with 141.96. Close enough. So now I know to order 24lb paper.

BTW Math and I don't get along.

It's doable, probably not that difficult with a bit of trial and error. I don't see any advantage in modding it for methanol however. The pump is very weak and still requires mounting the tank close to the engine. Unregulated as well.

Yes, I figured it was "doable", Very little trial needed. Just perhaps for "kicks" just like when I converted the dual Tillotsons on my Mc-8 powered minibike in 1963. One thing for sure, only took one ride and I was off the gasoline kick.
Every kart engine from that day on was converted to Alky!

Hi guys been awhile since I popped in. Wow you guys have been busy. Acdii the Corsair looks great love the engine and pipe’s. Gary that sounds like one bad ass 65. I also agree the gas carbs are silly.
Mike pinky looks great can’t wait to see the finished product and the first flight. Almost wish I could be there.
Beside all that I ordered a engine a little over a month ago and it finally came in. It’s a Saito 40. This will look good next to the 30 I got from Gary.

Sent a package from here to VA for Dave that took our Postal Workers Union over a month to hand over. Back to back, next Priority Pkg took 5 weeks from Detroit to Cleveland OH, about 180 miles. Could have walked it there in less time than it took USPS.

Champaign IL to just east of Rockford, an entire month. Same with a priority mail of a check to a bank to pay off a trailer loan, San Fran to ST Louis MO. Heres the real kicker, the tracking showed it went from San Fran to, get this, San Fran. SMDH

I finally broke down and ordered a new exhaust blower for the laser, the one it came with is LOUD!!!! The new one doesn't draw as much, but knew that ahead of time, it is 200 CFM less. It is about 40 DB quieter though. 38DB at full power. The entire setup, laser fans, chiller, air pump and blower is 58DB at my desk, 62DB at the machine. I can have it running at full power and have a Teams meeting without interference.

Jim i never thought i'd say this but your black and gold two stroke sounds better than that electric powered dart by a long shot...and speaking of shots! i reckon listening to that electric noise would inspire me to take my semi auto remington 1100 12ga chock full of 00buck and give that pilot a scale demo of real ack ack fire.

ps i've seen youtube vids of an american desert shoot where anything goes and at one point they were shooting at flying rc model two stroke aeroplanes...loved it
