Good on ya Dave.

Not a comfortable situation to be in. Sure beats self catherized for a year, the razor blade experience would be about 6 times per day times 364! Then on a leg bag for a month after the surgery.

"M1"
Straight, pure Methanol.
The dash 5 (-5) is VP code for five gallon can.

$8 a gallon for Methanol?!!!

I've got a handle on it, glow fuel prices are getting out of control. Glad I made the decision to move to gas for my larger 4 strokes.

"Glow fuel"?
Glow is an ignition source that usually uses methanol based fuels. Methanol based fuel however also works very well with spark ignition.

As said earlier, it depends on where you buy it and how much you buy. Right now at $6.10 gallon is the low price, $7.60 is the upper end. By the time oil is added, the CDI fuel works out costing $12.37/gallon to $13.65/gallon.
Suits my situation just fine, everyone has to decide for themself.
You are happy to settle for gasoline; I am grateful that I will never have to

Hey guys I have a Saito 325r5. I switched the fuel line to 1/8” instead of the norm 3/32”. I only did this based on trying larger fuel line for the larger displacement. Seems the engine does not have the power it had with the 3/32 fuel. Even after playing around with the mixture. Can anyone confirm with your 325 it ran great with 1/8 fuel line, I am about to switch back to 3/32”. but just wanted to make sure.

Thanks

Interesting. I run my FA 325 R5 with the 3/32. Have no memory of trying 1/8 . Can't imagine why the larger line with greater volume and less flow resistance would result in a lesser overall power output.
Usually more easier and faster creates in kind results?
Swamping the system with to much methanol for the glo plugs maybe?

1/32 larger fuel line wouldn't cause your issue. If you can't get the same power as before check your plumbing for air leaks or fuel restrictions.

Like everything Stihl, retailers have to sell the products at a minimum price set by Stihl or risk loosing their retailer license. I buy it by the gallon for $70 or $75, can't remember exactly cuz I slept since then.

I just noticed the details...the Amazon link is for 2.6 ounce bottles and you are looking for 6 ounce bottles.

I tried it methanol and it wouldn't mix or stay in suspension. Talked to sthils customer service reps and they agreed 😬
I use it in the few gas motors I have around. Sticking with " the racy red scent" of Klotz for methanol.
I run em a little rich so it hangs in the air as the Saito putts by. LOL

Thanks,
A fellow club member was having carbon problems with el cheapo oil in his gassers and was told to use the Stihl oil in his stink juice. I figured it was fair trade priced but gave it a shot here anyhow.

Yep, sounds like its time for new burnin's in that 100.

It's a sound most of us are familiar with but one that I feel can be virtually eliminated with the religious use of an ARO. With the exception of two sets of stainless steel bearings that met with early failures, within 30 minutes, I have not had to replace good quality chrome bearings in over 6 yrs. Two of those Saito overhauls have hundreds of flights on them and no bearing noise yet. I haven't been flying as long as many of you here so I don't have any long term empirical data to share. All I can say is "so far, so good" with the use of ATF ARO at the end of every flying day.

Those bearings are new Lonnie.
They have 30 minutes run time on them.
I don't use any treatments between runs on anything , or for long term storage. Anything that will sit for a while I just run WD 40 into through the fuel tank and carb. Once it is spitting, hang em nose down and forget about it till I need it again.
This one different. I ended up with full on ceramic ball/race bearings from Boca by an ordering mistake.
Normally buy the "upgraded" stainless steel ball and race for inherent corrosion resistance . Have had great success with them. I could care less about internal corrosion to these little motors. Scale rust bad, discoloration of steel internals, no biggie to me. Oxidized alum. and pot metals don't concern me either.
This case is different. The bearings sounded exactly the same at start up and now with a half hour run time with three flights. The engine is running very cool and has plenty of power. I think the different cadence is the ceramic singing a slightly different tune. IDK
It's an everyday flyer (warm up astro hog bipe)
Will see how it goes in the longer haul.
It sounds
so different. Every body loiters around and listens when I fire it up😁

New ceramic bearings, ok. Is there sufficient lube coming from the vent tube? It sounds dry as a popcorn fart but I don't know the first thing about ceramic bearings.

I just added another gasser to my engine arsenal, an FG21 for my TF Corsair 60 kit.
