thank you Mike.

Garry, I may have a cylinder coming soon.

I would still like another one to see if I can make a 100 valve fit, it would take some work but it would be worth the time if it worked.

Dave
It came in the mail today. I hope to have it running on the bench this weekend. It looks brand new. How do you keep engines looking so good?

That's a very nice 9mm to 10mm adapter for the TurboHeader.

hey guys, did you know that today scientist now believe that our future influence it's past, if it's true it's a dirty trick on us!.

LOL oh yes. some 6 weeks ago I went to order a new DoBro prop balancer and it was $36 at Towers, LOL but because the site was so frustrating I didn't order. well I ordered stuff about 12 days ago and the price of the balancer is up to $46 now, it has been setting here in the box a few days, and last night I started balancing a new APC 11x8.

well I was checking the balance/ sanding and and over again, and the balance was coming up.
so I sanded more and again and the balance was coming up even more
sanded more and it was getting close to level,.
so I sanded more, and the balance was way off! WHAT! like it was when I first started.
so I stated to sand more and the balance started to come up..
and I sanded more and bang the balance was way off again! xxxx

so I thought the shaft was bent, no-p. one of the cones has a slot cut into it on it's outer edge, so if the cone turned in the prop the balance was off, sO I have to start over with Towers and get another balancer, I am sure they will not just send me another cone.

sorry guys for the Rant (again). but it seems that more and more junk is coming out of China than ever before.
a couple months ago my wife ordered a new crock pot threw Amazon because she could not find what she wanted here in the city. and when she received it the whole bottom of the pot was not glazed. and, some 3 months ago we bought a new washing machine and by the end of the same day that we received it I had called Home Depo to come back and take it away. it was junk! the hot water valve didn't work, and the agitator only turned about 8 inches. we went and bought a Speed Queen with NO electronics. and, it took Home Depo almost 2 weeks to give us our money back! and then a rep told me it must have been setup wrong,, yeah, he wanted me to believe that mounting 2 hoses and leveling it was the problem why the hot water valve and agitator would not work correctly.

I was going flying this weekend, but not now.

Jim

If China made things as well as they made their Virus, I wouldn't mind buying China made stuff. It amazes me that the US can't make simple things like plastic shelving for what it costs from China, even WITH shipping!!!! Oh well, that and no one want's to work these days either. The guy who came to cut down the trees was saying he is short 4 guys and would have had all the trees done in a day, but he can't find anyone, and those he does he has to train.

There should not be a notch anywhere and it shouldn't matter if the prop turns on the shaft. Definitely send it back.

I have an extra one. PM me me if you want it cheap.

Isn't that the truth....

I'm on my 5th replacement employee in a month. All he has to do is be a "hand", doesn't have to know squat, just has to assist my other crew members. One of those guys lasted a whole week! Wow, impressive. The other three never came back after the first day. Not sure if they understood what work was.......Oh, you mean I actually have to work? Forget that.

Lonnie, what I mean is, if I remove the cone and put it back on with the prop, or turn the cone against the prop the balance of the prop will not be in the same spot. <that's without sanding.

I just checked the 2nd cone, it's balanced !

Gotta love that!

They did seem to get some help, at least cooperation from the West however.

People used to take pride in how much work they accomplished.

The new norm is how much they were paid for how little they did.

I’ve have a better one yet I have 2 guys one 50 the other 35. I’m leaving in 31/2 years all they have to do is follow me around and learn what I know that’s it. I tell them they have 30 years of knowledge they can learn in 3 years. One is line to make $100,000 a year and the other one is line to make $60,000 a year and they don’t want to do it. Hence the reason I’m leaving when I am just don’t understand nor do I care anymore.

I made up this rear facing vent for your FA 40-a. the washers are included in case your cam box threads don't start and stop the same place as this engine's.

Yes, I understood. Tower/HH should pay for return shipping of the defective balancer.

As I said, I have an extra DuBro balancer I'm not using. Yours for cheap if you PM me.

Nice bike! I remember when they first came out the were gorgeous! If I remember correctly the had several different c\options like handlebars etc. Norton brought out a street legal Cafe style racer not too much later. It looked so good you could get a ticket for speeding at a stop light!

had a Yamaha RD200 at the time and the shop that sold the Nortons shared space with the accessory shop I bought my faring. It was made to fit a Honda 250 and 350 but the accessory shop owner guaranteed it would fit, naturally the mounting brackets were short so he made me a custom set n/c. That little bike looked good with the fairing and I loved it in winter. I would go in to buy the odd accessory and drool over the Norton bikes and the Triumphs they carried too. The bikes back then had character! The Vincent Black Prince was always my dream bike ever since I saw one.

The Commando cafes came in two flavors, the "Yellow Peril" Production Road Racer of the early 1970s and later, the white red and blue , dual headlamped John Player Norton Special. All thru the 1970s I had at least 8 Britbikes in the garage at any given time. At any given time half of that eight were usually Nortons, Commando, At times Featherbed, Matchless hybrid or pre-war singles.

Later after moving to Ducati, Guzzi and Laverda" I kept a Norton on hand. I would ride it to work once a year, called that day "Guzzi Appreciation Day"

Good to hear from you again Dave, nice catch.
Need to talk with you a bit soon.

From 1980, a Matchless 500 cc, hand built chromemoly framed G85-CS factory racer, 1 of 100. Bought for $50. Had several Norton parts as well as AJS. Norton gearbox etc. Norton at the time also owned Matchless.

Saito Saito Saito, Thaks Lonnie!

Nice find for sure! Disc brake in 74, near priceless.
Happy Camper, bet the seller is red eyed from crying looking at a pile of hunnerds as he or she watched it leave home for the last time.
Congratulations Sir. Flush move.
Pilot it safely.

my cousin had a Norton 850, I'm sure it must have been the Commando, it was a little bike for an 850. it was black. pure art they are !! I believe he bought his in 73 or 74, it was a long time a go. LOL I remember my brother and I on his Trident and seeing my cousin jumping it about 2ft in the air off a rise in the road for RR tracks. I remember telling myself that "if it was my bike I would not have done that)
