Welcome to Club SAITO !
I figured out what was causing the chirping/squealing metallic noise on my 180GK, the prop drive was slipping. When I shut down the engine the prop was indexed to a different position than where I had tightened it. I tightened it again and it slipped again. One last tightening with so much force that I thought maybe the nut would strip or the prop drive would split open and.......joy-joy. I always clean the crank, split collet and prop drive with brake cleaner before assembly and have never had to put THAT much force on one. Wow.

Good thing it was able to take-up at last. Maybe the operation while slipping has worn away some of the mating areas. At some point the split faces of the collet could bottom and lose the ability to lock up. Just a thought.
Anyhow, you good to go now

This "low time" "ready to mount and run" 180GK engine has not been the best investment. The prop drive has smeared knurling around the outside 1/8" of the face from a slipped prop. That is the most critical area so it will have to be replaced. The camgear had a loose lobe which ruined a tappet. The rear bearing was improperly seated and ruined from pulling it in with the crankshaft. Win some, lose some. It's all good.
Went from poor running to good running.
A worthwhile journey
If/when the driver is replaced you may want to include the collet too.

Jim, I had one of these for a few years, I had the Mac's over, under exhaust headers for it and two Mac's tuned, quiet pipes. It almost required a second plane to haul the exhaust.

I was interested in that one but it seemed best suited for a warbird fighter, possibly Allison powered.

Great idea Dave.
My nearest neighbors are 1/8 mile away, so no problem with noise, but they made it very clear that if I fly one of my planes over their property they'll shoot it out of the sky. Welcome to Arkansas! It's not so much that they dislike me specifically, they hate everyone equally.

She needs a fourstroke broom.
My brain had a thought where it suggested that I look into buying another FA 40-a. They cost $259.95 at Horizon and $366.38 at MacGregors. It irritates me that Horizon and Mac's both show a 10 x 4 at 10,500 rpm and my current one turns a Xoar 11 x 6 at 10,300. Oh well.
FA 30-s and 40-a side by side.
