Are you using floss thread there? I personally use heat shrink tubing. Have never had one come loose yet.

Thanks

Here is a picture of what I'm sending, disregard the two non Fathead lifters on the left, there is going to be a third Fathead lifter that is used, I found it after the picture.

Closer look.

Bingo, bango, bongo! Thanks, Dave.

I'm absolutely amazed that you had those "one of a kind" Fathead parts.

I will pay them forward as well. Pedro will likely get the remainder of the parts as he has two Fatheads now.

On it's way, PM sent.

The 150 cylinder I purchased, it ain't very pretty, but the threads in all holes are good. More later. I'll paint it black to match the crankcase I have.

I'll find out the day after tomorrow. I already have a new RMJ ring for it.

Me too. With a dab of dialectic grease before the wrap If there winter flyers, the condensation can be scary. Also use Dacron bow string and Dacron from my leather sewing awl. The big threading needle sort of helps divide the colored strands.

Yep,

Helping to keep em running was the intent. Good to see that happening. Pretty sure that I sent Pedro a Fathead 120 as well

I use the black Dacron HD thread. Use a criss-cross figure 8 pattern. Even add a drop of CA glue to the finish square knot.

For me, dielectric grease and a 1/2" strip of blue painters tape to secure the connectors. Overly simple but exceptionally effective.

This is far and away my #1 go-to for plated electronics connectors.

About one year ago I rebuilt this Saito 50 and it has never turned freely. It feels, "sandy" when turned. I pulled it apart yesterday and the new Boca Bearings in it are ruined. I dismantled another 50 and on a hunch I compared the black spacers that go in front of the cam drive gear on the crankshaft. The one in the rough turning 50 is .5mm shorter than the freely turning one. So, what does the shorter one belong to? It came in the engine.

Example

Subject engine.

Difference between just installing bearings and actually fitting them. Well done

Thanks, I have another 50 that needs the longer one also. I'll have to cypher on that some.

Well. it looks as if the 150 cylinder is lost, up until 9:00 pm last evening the tracking number said it was arriving by then. The E-Bay tracking button still says that, however if you paste the tracking number on the USPS website it says it got as far as Palatine, Ill and is delayed. I shoulda specified UPS or Fedex. Fedex dropped off new Boca's for my other 56, I'll just be content with that.

If any of you need some balsa, he seems to have an eye for the good stuff. It makes for a good Saito ride. http://www.oldschoolmodels.com/balsa-sale-4.htm

Or, just fire up your lathe

BTW:
Our local hobby shop now stocks the entire line of Old School Models kits. (The Prop Shop in Warren MI) Good to see, now that Sig has quit.

I may do that very thing, are those steel bars you sent suitable? Thanks I did some playing, the black intake seal ring for the Saito 62 is a perfect fit and provides exactly the correct clearance, but it's aluminum. I reduce the images by 50% and they still turn out large but they load with no problem, sometimes the 100%ers won't load.

PS, just for kicks and giggles I ordered a front bearing for the 50 that has a PTFE seal.

Boca front Saito 50 bearing with PTFE seal.

Sure, the steel bars are suitable. If they are the hex bars, a bit wasteful as they are pretty pricey, metric sized stock. High grade, free machining steel .
I special ordered those to make metric sized exhaust parts and spinner nuts. Not cheap stuff!
For spacers, any old steel will do. I often use brass or aluminum FWIW.
