Yeah, Many folks today are unaware that the hobby of R/C flying has it's origins in Amateur "Ham" Radio. In fact, at one time only licensed Amateur Radio operators were allowed to fly R/C.

Pete,
Enjoy the key! Being Old School, the Iambic keys don't fit well. Tomorrow night is straight key night, by tradition I get out my 125 year old Thompson Levering key and make a few contacts. Otherwise I am running an old Vibroplex bug or single lever keyer.

The exhaust valve on saito 125 very black. Appears to be carbon build up. Can this cause backfiring?
Been away for awhile. Finally found out why I felt so bad. Been in chemo chair for 5 months now. Feeling much better, been flying electrics but anxious to get back to glow models. What is going on with Saito, everyone is out of stock?

Over priming is the usual cause if you're talking about kicking back while trying to start it. I'm glad you're feeling better, several of us here have gone through the prostate cancer thing. No fun at all.As to your question two, I haven't heard anything.

MacGregor's has all these in stock. https://www.hobbyplastic.co.uk/index...o6p4t2edlnoio5

Well happy New Year to sll.if you on Club Saito. The latest in my life , I stored all my RC and went back to my Roots U Control. I never knew how I lost the feeling of that plane in your hand. Really been enjoying it. AJ

Sorry to hear you are dealing with Cancer.
The Prostate Cancer "thing" can and does take several paths. Some are fairly smooth, others can be pretty rough. Five months of Chemo, no fun there! Either way, nothing to be shrugged off.
I had the surgery seven years ago, after a near death bout of Sepsis. In November wound up in the hospital twice for surgery to deal with complications of the prior surgeries.

Getting back to glow models is a very happy turn of events. Black valves aren't usually a cause for concern. Start and run the engine a bit, get a good carb setting. When fully cooled check and if needed, set the valve clearances. At that point you can evaluate if further work is needed.

Looks like us poor little US taxpayers are having to compete with the government regarding Saito production. Lately, they have been building a lot of drone powerplants for the Ukraine war "thing" as well as a few other places the goverment floods with our money.

Iran and Turkey are also using Saitos on their drones, we have a lot of competition for engines.

Yeah, Our government hands them taxpayer cash too. Pallets stacked with cash.

Hard for us broke taxpayers to compete against our own money.

Saito can hardly turn it down.

Supplying replacement parts and little FA-30s becomes just a bother.

Yep, my page looks just like your screen capture, Gary. I have not had problems editing posts, which I do a lot due to grammatical errors.

I have this Sky Ranger coming in a few days, it calls for up to a 45, I think this 56 will be perfect.

Nice one Dave. Looks to be similar to the power requirements of a Sig LT-25. They fly well on even a .26 or .30 four stroke/cycle engine. That should be very perky on a 56!

I have been flying an old Goldberg Eagle 63 on a Saito 50 with plenty of reserve on tap.

Let us know how the kit works out. How's the Robin Hood coming along?

Dave, you know the other day there was an open rocker 40 on RCG , I think it was a Saito? open rockers would be a cool setup in this plane.

I have the fuse covered on the RH 25 and the RH 80 is ready to cover, I ran out of split wood so I'm playing catch up after being down sick for 10 days.

Good on ya Dave. Been a bit dicey here too, since the beginning of December.
Are both planes getting that fabric covering?

And these Sullivan tail wheel brackets.
Yes sir, Lonnie kindly helped me out with some Cub Yellow and a couple of others. Also I'm going to try some new, (to me) tail wheels by Dubro called Micro Minnies.

Thanks Jim, they come with a stiff spring and a softer one, the softer one does well on most small planes.
