RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !
Has anyone put a Saito 150 w/smoke on the Great Planes Super Stearman?
I'm sure it will fly the plane just fine but I have some concerns that the Slimline for the inverted Saito may need more room than is available. I hate to hog anything off the firewall if I don't have to.

Here is a link for the 325R5 breaking in http://www.terynd.com/public/Saito325breakin3.wmv (this is the best one of the engine on the bench)
Here are two more of the engine: http://www.terynd.com/public/Saito325breakin1.wmv and http://www.terynd.com/public/Saito325breakin2.wmv
Here is the Stearman flying with it: http://www.terynd.com/public/Stearman-1.29.06-nm.wmv (this is the one without music)
Here is the YouTube video of the FW-190 with the Air World 215cc 4 stroke radial, 5 cylinders (also sold under Moki) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S9wLuv-g4oM. There is a video of it flying on Google. I've seen the twin of that FW-190 here in town with the 250cc Moki. I've seen it run on the bench, and they ran it up inside of the hobby shop a few weeks ago. I held the stab with my ankles to spell someone else, and it positively hurts at WOT! The sound is incredible.

Al,
Went by the hobby shop tonight and saw the FW-109 crank again. The engine is sounding smoother. They will fly it at Mac Hodges field in Andersonville, Ga tomorrow morning. There will be videos made and I'll post the link when I get it myself.....if nobody minds a non-Saito link in this thread.

Alrighty all you saito guru's out there, how is the crank timed to the cam on the FA65? I have found the spot on the cam, bit cannot find anything to line it up to, nor can I find anything to line the crank up to. the gear is difficult to see in the cam box as well. any help would be appreciated.

The piston needs to be at top dead center.
You can use a tooth pick stuck in the glow plug hole to find top dead center?
But the Saito cam needs to be installed before the cylinder.
The reason is the push rod tubes and the push rods.
If the cylinder is already on the crankcase, it will have to be raised to get the push rods - tubes in place.

To double check you timing, when the engine is assembled, rotate the crank to top dead center but not on the compression stroke. It must be on the overlap stroke. At this point one valve will be closing and the other opening. Both valves should be open the same amount. If you look across the rocker arms - They should be parallel across the top.
The cam box gasket controls the gear mesh of the cam gear with the crankshaft. This nominal thickness is more or less .007". This is about the thickness of one of the "blow-in" subscription renewal cards in a magazine. The actual thickness needed actually varies but most new replacement gaskets from Saito are .007" thick when new.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !
Hi Guys. I just purchased a used Saito FA82 without a manual. This is my first 4 stroke. I have a couple of questions and would certainly appreciate some help.
The fuel line fitting on the muffler is broken off, Is there a universal fitting available or do I need to get a part from Saito.
What is the fuel line fitting on the bottom of the engine for?
Thanks for the help.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !
I want to use my Saito 150 as a pusher, but am unable to find a pusher prop of the correct size for it [:@] I would rather not have to use an expensive pusher prop anyways.... Is there any way to make the Saito 150 run backwards by changing the cam timing so that I can use a standard prop as a pusher ?

Order the SAI 300T34 cam shaft and install it. this will reverse the running dirction of your FA-150. If the engine has more than an hour or so of running time it would be best to order a set of tappets, SAI 120S38 and replace then at the same time.
Bill.
