That engine looks great! I like how you put the throttle servo right there at the engine. What benefits do you have.

It should be on the main page, there's alot of information here

Just another quick question to you saito guys, at what price will the new Saito 125 come in at compared to the 120 for example? Will be be more expensive or cheaper andd by how much do you think?

Posted price for the FA-125a is $10 higher than the FA-120.

Where can I get some gasket material suited to make replacement v/c gaskets for my .91? It seems like such a wimpy little order to get from Horizon. ( oh, I ripped one that was heavly coked to the engine ) Gonna give it the crock pot cleaning.

I have a Saito 91 GK to put in my Venture kit as soon as I finish my telemaster.On my last 91 I could not keep a spinner on it.It would get started and than trow it off,how do you deep this from happening?I used a heavy hub and never had a problem only with the spinner.

I don't know if the particular brand is available where you are, but "Vellumoid" 1/32" gasket paper works fine. If you can't get the Vellumoid you want a gasket material that is impregnated, it looks like very thin linoleum. Plain paper gaskets don't work well there.

You didn't specify what spinner you're using. I've had no problems with the metal spinners using a central retainer screw, Tru-Turn, SpinRight, and so forth. At the same time I've not had good results with plastic spinners on a four stroke.

Can you give a little more information?

I do not remember the names,I did try different ones including the ones that came with the kits,I did'nt try the meals ones I will try a true turn on the next one.I do like the Saito one fine engines with great sound and performance,I had it on a 4*60 and than on a venture which is why I have another venture with a few more goodies to put in it.

Almost forgot I even had an old timer put a jam nut on too no luck.I'm just trying to think ahead,the GK might not even have a problem who knows

What prop for a Saito 100 on a Funtana 40. This thread goes by so fast, my post is way back a page.

RE: Vellumoid for gasket material. After researching the product, I only find it available from Industrial Material suppliers , nothing relating to say, Lowes, Home Depot or any automotive parts suppliers. Can you think of a possible substitute ?

Any of the automotive RTVs will work on the Saito engines, except on the exhaust piping. Gets too hot. There is a high temperature version that might work there.

There are two places where the Saito has to have a gasket, whether you put RTV on it or not. One is the cam box; the thickness of the gasket sets the lash in the timing gears. The other is the rocker boxes. To clarify, I don't know that they will fall off without the resiliency of the gaskets, but I think the heat/cool cycles would make the screws work loose. If you try it and it works with no problem, please let us all know.

When I was living in Virginia Beach, there were three places in Norfolk where I could get the Vellumoid products. Since that's a 300 mile round trip for you I guess you wouldn't want to make it just for a $2 pair of gaskets.

Fel-Pro also has sheet material available, that shouldn't be too hard to find, even though you might have to ask it be ordered.

If you can only find the plain "Paper" gasket material in a 1/32" thickness, take a piece large enough to cut your gaskets and smear some RTV on it, and rub it in as well as you can. Do this on both sides, let it dry, then cut the gaskets from it. I've done this in the past as a "Quick and dirty" replacement for the rubberized paper, it does work but it's messy and smelly in the preparation. Just be sure it IS gasket paper, and not ordinary paper.

I remember buying Perfect gastket material at the hobby shop. I wonder if they still sell it, or if there might be a package hanging around somewhere in some corner of you LHS. Would that type of material be sufficient, do you think, Bill?

I've never seen a gasket that would hold up if it is open to the antifreeze, but if the cam box were left in place with the screws tight it should be OK. On the other hand I wouldn't consider doing the A/F Pot thing to a Saito without pulling the cam out. I'm just not comfortable with the thought of getting all the A/F out after soaking it. Besides, why would you be going that far if you aren't replacing the bearings? And that means re timing the cam anyway.

When you strip the engine the cam box gasket usually comes off without damage.

Those old "Perfect" brand bags had almost anything you could think of in one or another.

As near as I remember the "Perfect" gasket sheets were impregnated, but memory also says they were thicker than needed for the Saito rocker boxes. But thicker shouldn't hurt, it's just that the thinner material is easier to cut cleanly.

Michael, have you tried an APC 15 or 16x4W prop on your 100? If you are flying the slower 3D moves rather than pattern style I think you would like the pull of these props.

The reason I put the servo there is because it was easy. It was a lot easier to run the servo wire than to try and use some kind of linkage or cable.
