You have to use an old intake manifold O-ring or else get one from the hardware store. Take the engine with you to the store and get one that fits.

Make sure you align it well to where none of the O-ring protrudes into the inside where the airflow is.

I have been using Cool Power 4-Cycle 15% With Castor?Synthetic Blend (It's Green) and while it doesn't say how much Castor is has, it seems to be plenty. Runs good and have not had any problems with it or the engine yet. Castor runs out of the exhaust while it is running and get all over everything just like the 2 Cycle does. Anyway, while it does not give any information on the oil mix, everyone around here is using it and no problems with it yet. It does say however not to use after run oils, but I ignore that part. I use it and can't see any reason not to yet. Just thought I would throw in my 2cents worth.

I just bought my First Saito, a .62 runs great-How do you check the valve/tappet Gap?

I have 1 more question. On the .82, how many o rings are there in the carb where the intake tube seals in the throat? On my carb, there is 1 O ring in a groove about 1/8" down but it looks like possibly there should be another that sits down at the bottom where the tapered end of the intake tube mates to the carb. Anyone know for sure?

There is one O ring there. The same O ring is what is used for the velocity stack. The O ring where the manifold goes into the cylinder head is the same size, but is Viton which is fuel resistant. That makes 2 total and 3 if you use the stack.

Hello Saito guys,
Just got off Horizons Saito page,
Check this link for a kick,

http://www.horizonhobby.com/Articles...ArticleId=1706

Only thing is, as of this morning, he had the Saito 82 and the 90TS labels mixed up. The way they are labeled, the sounds don't match.

I'm just sharing this with you in case you are seriously listening to the sounds. I already have all three engines.

Thanks Jimnie for the great sounds.

Hey Saito guys. Quick question, and by the way I own two 56's and two 72's so far. Anyway, I put one of the 72's on a Super Sportster and wondered if the breather nipple has to be on the engine and does a tube have to be connected to it? I'll probably put it on but wanted to try it out before I do to see how she flies. Had a K&B 60 on it and couldn't ever get it to run well so I put the Saito on. Thanks for any responses. I hope to be flying my new Astro Hog also 72 equiped soon too.

Thanks,
Jim

Jim,

That is your crankcase vent and it will vent oil. The tube can usually be routed to where it extends out the bottom. Either with or without the tube the oil will come out.

Good fielding Jim.

The .82a (labeled as the twin) is not idling well at all and, judging by the harsh firing sounds, threatens to throw its prop when revved up from idle (about half way through the clip).

The 3 cyl radial sounds gorgeous though!

Yes, I heard the beginnings of a back fire at the acceleration points of the 82. If that had been a Y-S, the prop would have taken a trip into the weeds.

hi guys,
something I should have mentioned earlier, for the "o ring" under the velocity stack I use a slice of silicon tubing of the correct diameter, does the job nicely and has a flat interior with no bulge into the airflow.

hey guys, i have a couple more questions. i have a 100fs mounted inverted and a remote glow on it for ease of use. the other day was the first time it threw the prop when starting. i'm a little nervous now when starting. any starting tips when these are inverted? thanks very much.
the other question is any reason NOT to invert a 56. i noticed the breather is on the bottom of the engine, so when it's inverted it will be on the top. will it still be ok?

thanks guys

Help! I think the threads for the glow plug on my Saito 65 are stripping. Some little metal shavings show up every now and then, it still screws in tightly but the engine has a bad compression leak now. Anything I can do besides replacing the engine, such as glueing it in place and hoping it doesn't burn out soon?

Take the head off and send it to Clarance Lee to get it fixed. He,ll send it back good as new and it doesn't cost any where near as much as a new engine. If you don't know how to take it apart, send the whole engine. It will cost a little more in postage, but it will get done just the same.

Just wondering if this will work right, I'm worried that the check valve might have too much resistance on the pressure going to the tank, I've never used one before. This engine does not have a perry pump.

Edit: Nevermind, It might just end up flooding the carb. The reason I won't do it directly from the fuel tank>Fuel valve>carb is because the fueler valve sits about 4 inches below the tank, and then it would have to go 4 inches back up to the carb. I'm afraid it might not be able to pull in fuel properly.

You can send in either the entire engine, or remove the cylinder assy and send it to Clarence Lee. He will repair that with a helicoil for something like $12.50, and $15 for the whole engine. It is best to contact him at: [email protected]

One more thing, I've been hearing that the muffler comes off alot, I will be using a 90 degree bend adapter and I was wondering if this would work good.

edberg,

I think teflon tape would work better. Two complete wraps and snug the jam nut.

Cleaning mufflers . . . .

Seems like a lot of people are using sand paper and steel wool to my disdain. All the used engines I have bought had the mufflers sanded. I promptly polished out the sanding marks.

I prefer to use Dawn Power Dissolver available at the discount store.
