i just run the throttle pushrod (i use 1/16 wire) past the throttle arm, about 1/4" or so above. run the wire about 1 - 1/2" beyond, make a 180 bend andcome back using a z bend in to the arm. this allows flex and allows the wire to line up as it needs. the servo end i use a harry higley servo connector, it has 1/8" diameter pin into the wheel and a good clip, never a problem.

Skillet, I doubt its the fuel. You don't seem to have a problem starting it - bad fuel usually is hard to start.

Almost always, when an engine dies when it is going from mid to full throttle - it has insufficient fuel. I think you've probably tried richening both the LS and HS needles. The Saito runs really well even when absurdly rich, so don't be afraid to open up both needles a lot.

If both the LS and HS settings don't help - the fuel delivery system is probably suspect.

Is the fuel bubbling or frothing from the vibrations?
Is the fuel line kinked anywhere?
Can you blow on the tube on the vent side of the tank and easily force fuel to stream out the delivery side?
You might also want to try 1/8" tubing instead of the normal 3/32" tubing.

I seen issues like these to cause glow engines to stumble and die when going to high throttle even when the mixtures are set correctly.
I only have one Four-Stroke so far, the 125, and it is by far the most reliable and best running engine I have ever owned - so what you are experiencing on two new engines is indeed very strange.

I have heard the ceramic bearings mentioned several times. Who makes them and do you recommend them over the stock bearings? If so, what are the advantages and/or disadvantages? I have a 1.80 that may need a forward bearing.

Hoping somebody will be willing to help me out on this question...............I'm sure it is somewhere in this thread, but 413 pages is no easy thing to read through all.
I'm running a Saito .72 on my Funtana .40. APC 14 BY 4w PowerMaster 15/20 all synthetic fuel. At full throttle Tach reading is about 9500-9600 rpms. While flying, I don't see any difference in increased power from half throttle to full, almost feels like gutless beyond half power. This at level flight. Take offs feels OK.
I've checked fuel lines, glow plug, valve clearance, compression feels OK, fuel is fresh. I don't know what the field's altitude is.

Anybody out there ever had this experience ?. I only have Saito engines. I suddenly noticed this change in power.

Charles- it could be too rich. Or, too much prop. I've not used this prop.

BTW it was the fuel. It was a new jug of fuel but i tried another jug and it ran perfect. Only about 8500 or 8600 rpm but it stayed there. Thanks for all the advice. I did install a new tank that i had around.

I just read this warning at the Boca web site concerning ceramic hybrid bearings: "Note: Not recommended for engines that have excessive side or thrust loads. Ceramic Balls are extremely hard and excessive side load may destroy the retainers causing these very hard ceramic balls to cause damage to your engine. Consult your Boca Bearing Sales Rep for additional details or best suggestions."
Does anyone have any info on what could be considered "excessive side or thrust loads"?

paul at rc-bearings.com will recommend them. never hammer them putting them in, go into a hot case.
lighter, roll smoother, and not much chance of rust - stainless and ceramic.

My CG Ultimate 10-300 Blue Hawk has a Saito 120 with about 10-15 flights on it. Plumbed with a three line. Third line being a Fuel Dot to fuel up and defuel. The third line goes all the way down to the bottom of the 16 ozs. tank being located to the front and bottom of the tank. To fuel up I use a Dave Brown fueller or sometimes the Du-Bro hand crank. At the start off of fuelling there is a small amount of fuel that comes out of the muffler, then it stops and continues to fuel up. I was wondering what's causing to do this. I checked out all the lines and everything looks OK. Anyone experienced this ?

There's some liquid in the muffler line. When you start to refill, it blows the liquid out of the line?

I have the same plane, engine, and setup. If the muffler vent points up in the tank, then I have to agree with W8YE. I have not experienced this problem but I defuel when finished flying. Perhaps you are not completely defueling. If there are no other problems I wouldn't be too concerned.

Question about a Saito 56. A very fine flyer maidened my GP 1/6 J-3 Cub for me today. Flew twice. On the second flight it flew great, sounded good. He landed
and taxied up to the fence. I retrieved the plane put it up on the table. About 5 minutes later another RC'er came by a flipped the prop. No Compression. He thought maybe it was too lean, got hot and a valve stuck or a dry cylinder.

What do some of you think. I am going to pull the valve covers tomorrow and take a look. On occasion when you flipped you could feel slight compression and then it would feel free, again. ???? This is my first experience with Saito. I have a Magnum .91, but have flown it very little. I don't have any 4-stoke experience.

Sounds like you had the throttle closed. Check your compression with the throttle open.
