You may need to run your 170 on the ground some and get is broken in?

It may be too lean?

Two reports ...

1 I flew the YAK with the 72 and the engine performed perfect !! I let it idle the fuel out , I'm glad I had time to kill , that thing idled for about 25 minutes on a high idle.

2 My 1.25 is here and I can put together my Frenzy !!

I have a Saito 82. It was installed in a pattern plane, Lark 70, that crashed on it's third flight. Plane was destroyed. Motor suffered a lot of damage. Needs new head, intake tube. push rod, and needle valve. I hope everything else checks out OK. I sent it off today to Horizon Service Center for repairs. This motor was new. Any one know how long I can expect it to take? Days-Weeks-Months??? I am also looking for a new pattern plane for this motor-any suggestions?????????????

Did you redo the member numbers? I have been #260 for a long time.
Richard
Sorry about that. I don't have a copy of the original list kept by the late Bill Robison. I'll remove you from the new number.

I think the current crop will fit but what you get from Horizon will be longer than yours. They will just stick up higher is all. At least that is what I ran into with the newer 30.

I ran two 10mm TurboHeaders on a Saito TS 90 twin yesterday, not much improvement in rpm due to the smallish carb but the sound is awesome. The only way they can used on the TS 90 is with the 90 degree adapters due to the weird angle of the exhaust port. I ran them turned in and turned out, very flexible set up. Incidently, using two Enya #3s I could idle at 2,000 rpm indefinitely.

I lost count as to what number member I would be [8D] but I've got a Saito 1.80 in my Cessna and it's turning a APC 17x8 and some times a APC 17x10

I am going to see if Jim can make me a set of the THs with the pressure tap pointing the same direction as the 10mm threads so they'll point inward when set up on the outside of the adapters. I'll try to get a video in the next few days, my birthday is tomorrow, (66) and I teach Sunday school Sunday. Harley ride Sunday afternoon.

Thanks for the good wishes, my sweety gave me a precision model of a 58 Corvette today and in previous years a 53 Vette, 54 Vette, 57 T-Bird retractible hardtop and an Oliver Super 99 with a 4-71 Detroit Diesel engine. What a wife. She buys me submarine movies for most other holidays.

tukkus, here's my post from a thread I started several years ago: "I was mounting a new filter and velocity stack on my .82 this morning and decided to do a before and after test. The fiter is a BruLine and the stack /carb gap was filled with a green automotive air conditioner o-ring that didn't protrude into the air flow hardly at all. The fuel is 15% Omega and the prop is an APC 14x4W. The tank was a 2 ouncer. No linkage was attached to the throttle and the spring held it full open. Here's the results:
No stack /filter: Peak 10,050 richened to 9,650 for the test run. Run time to empty was 2 min. 30 sec.
With stack /filter: Peak 9660, ran at 9360, and the run time was 3 min., 20 sec.
No spitting from the carb was observed before the stack /filter was added."

tukkus, here's another post from that thread: "The engine peaks at 10,170 with no filter and the stack . I didn't do a consumption test."
I picked up 120 rpm with the stack only.

Consumption test? Yes , runs very very long time on very, very little fuel. Even on 30%

Im getting 40min+ on my .82 with a 13oz tank, cool power 30%.

The most amazing thing about turning 66 is that 5 minutes ago I was 20. In that seeming 5 minutes I've raised two kids, worked 33 years and 9 months for the phone company, raced a MAICO, pulled tractors and played with Saitos for 18 years. And a time or two I've played my guitar and sang with w8ye and ran engines in his yard. Thanks all.
