Sounds good to me!

Also take into consideration the weight of the plane. A 6pound plane gets great economy on the .82 with a 14x4W.

Thanks for the advice all. I was going to go up to an 11oz tank, but if I can get ~20 min on the 8.3oz tank, then there is no need for the extra weight. I was going to start with the 14x4w prop on this ~6lb plane and probably average half throttle during a flight with this plane anyway...

Advice needed....

Have run 3 tanks thru my test- stand mounted 82a; adjusted all according to instructions. Max rpm's are 8800. Transition is very good. It will idle scary-slow at 1700. I expected about 9800 rpm max. I'm running an APC 14-6 Pattern prop; am I expecting too much?

The Pattern prop has a wide blade, the Sport prop has a narrow blade but isn't offered in a 14-6; I wonder why. Since my 72 turns a 13-6 Sport at 9800, I thought the 14-6 would be ideal on the 82a.

I will be running the 82a on a Senior Slo Motion [about 7 lbs.]

They do have a 14x6 sport also. The 14x4w works great though as said. Can tone the nitro down with it.

It's one of the Simitar series designed by Bill Evans. This one was in the '93 AMA mag.[build from plans]. AMA can provide plans & foam wing cores.

I built one in '93; best flying plane I ever had. Very easy to build.

The 100 is destined to go into my Great Planes Super Sportster 60 which is scheduled to be built this fall/winter. What prop(s) do you recommend for this engine? I just obtained the 150 attached to a Goldberg Ultimate biplane, from a member of my club who is getting out of the hobby.

I like either a 14x8 or a 15x6 on my Saito 100. A 16x8 on the 150.

I like the 14x8 APC on my 1.00. I use a 16x8 on my 1.80. I am not sure about the performance on the 1.50 since I don't use that engine.

Maybe it's a 18x6 not 16x8!

On my ultimate Graupner 22% 1400mm 54 inch wing with my !80 I use1a 18*6 which is the bigggest size prop possible for that motor
It give very good slow tractor pulling power with such a low reving low pitch and big prop more like a helicopter blade
A 16*8 prop on the same plane with a 180 could risk to over speed the plane and would be a better prop for a fast flying heavy wing loading war bird Mustang spitfire
The type of plane tend to dictate the prop with a lot of guys on pattern with Saito 180 claiming to use 17*18 or 17*10 inch as the preferable prop
I susspect for ultimate class plane 17 t 18 inch would work best with Saito 180

I don't have a Saito 100 so cant say about that engine

Jim, the 16x8 spins a little slower on the 1.50 than on the 1.80. It still performs pretty well. The 16x6 isn't enough of a load on the 1.50.

You have to find a prop thats fits you personally.
I have more props stocked now then my LHS does.

I can relate to that i've been to two hobby shops here lately and i have more props then they do in certain sizes and brands whats reall a bummer is when you get a new prop balance it put it on and only get one flight with it. Arrg how frustrating. Guess i have to buy more of that one size if i continue to have prop strikes. Tower is making a killing off me on props.

A pefectly good APC 16X6 prop and i lost the tip off it in a prop strike i'm wondering if i can just take the prop and make the other blade the same and balance it and use it again anyone takin the risk and done this with a prop i lost about half an inch or less of one blade tip.

I have nicked the tips on a few props. I shave a little off the opposite side and re-balance. I am not sure if this is safe or not, but I have done it. I have never re-used one that was missing 1/2".

I have done it, i built a jig that hooks to my grinder and it trims them even. i balance them and use them again. No problems with the 4-5 i have done.

I measured the amount that got nicked broke of the tip it's little over a 1/4 inch so i might try removing the same amount off the other side and using it with caution..

I don't have that many but I do have a nasty one, it is a Barkley Speedmaster 10-10 with replaceable blades. I actually had this on a control line corsair about 25 years ago , but never flew it. I wish I never ran it , it was new when I got it and already older than I could figure out.

Sounds like you need some practice time doing nothing but shooting touch-and-goes... or taller landing gear.

Problem isnt clearance. problem is the wind blowing 15 to 20 mph gust and trying to land crossways on a runway that doesn't face into the wind. I was hovering about 2 feet off the ground and the gust dropped suddenly from 20 to 15 real quick and the plane came down hard on the landing gear and the prop clipped the ground.

But trying to expalin to the people who grade the runway that the wind blows from the east to west here seems to be a lost cause. So as they say if you want something done right you have to do it yourself.. if we had a runway that faced the correct direction there wouldnt be a bunch of broken props. But learning to land in a cross wind is tricky getting better at it. or the other thing is just dont fly when the wind is blowing but usually it is.

So i have to take a weekend and go get a railroad tie load it up in my truck take it out to the field and hook it up and drag the ground to make a runway that will face into the wind then i dont think there iwll be anymore issues with props nicking the ground trying to land sideways on a runway that is only 50 feet wide..
