I just purchased a saito 125 knight that I will be getting this tuesday from horizon. I know it comes with 8x 1.25 threads but can someone tell me what the exact diameter of the non threaded shaft is? thanks

I hope I'm clear here, the threads are 8 x 1.25. But the shaft behind the threads is larger. looking for an exact measurement

This is the only crank they show for the 1.25, the only part of the crank that is larger is the bearing boss.

I don't know of any problems on the 1.00. I get normal rpm's with it installed.

Hey Jim, you're right the 1.00 runs fine with the Velocity-Stack, it just doesn't blow fuel away into the breeze.

HELP!!! I have a APC 16X6 on the Saito 125, Cool power 15% OS F plug and @ sea level. I went out to the field, fueled up the plane, back flip started as usual right off the bat! Checked the RPM's wit the Tach after she warmed a minute. Was getting 7200,so up and away I went! As I flew around for a little I noticed how slow I was flying, engine was not running up any higher RPM's, was sluggish at most. I went ahead and landed to check the tach and engine. Brough her in to the pits and was going to start but there was no compression, probably valves/tappets are off..... I was ao frustraited I clened her up and just brought her home! I will tackle this issue this week some time. Has any of you had an issue like this before? I used the supplied guage before when adjusting the valves on my Saito 100, never had an issue like this. Am I doing something wrong? Any thing I should be looking for guys? I appreciate any help!

Chuck, the first thing that needs done is to determine if indeed a pushrod jumped out of its socket. If it did, the clearance was most likely excessive from the engine not being on absolute TDC when you set them. Tell us more, Thanks, Dave

When I adjusted the Valves, I thought for sue I was TDC, I checke a few times! I am not saying it wasnt but I made every attempt to re check t over and over. It honestly felt like I had a TON more compression after I made the adjustment, but after putting it back in the air and seeing the performance I was dissapointed. I know she is a great engine, just have to work out the kinks! What else can I tell you about what I did Thans for the help guys!

We still need to determine why the compression went away, one of the adjusters may have changed on you although that is extremely rare.

If your throttle is closed, the engine will feel like it has no compression.

Went flying yesterday afternoon after 5 pm and was out there today from 11 AM to 8 PM. Was perfect weather. Wind light and variable.

G'day I have twice had brand new Saitos suddenly have no compression at all despite where the throttle was set. On both occasions, the engine in question was fresh out of the box. On both occasions I had put the engine in a model and taken it to the field to give it some running in before flying. Both times, the engine had fired and been run briefly and then just decided to have no compression. Both times I turned the engine over by hand and could not feel any problems so I simply applied an electric starter. With one, the compression came back immediately. The other took a couple of applications of the starter but both returned to normal compression.

Why?

Well, both were new and so possibly were dry but I had primed both and had turned them over by hand with the glow connected until I felt a "bump" so there was some fuel in there. Both engines never suffered from this problem again and I started them and gave them some running and then flew them. I wondered if a valve had stuck as a valve stem was too dry or whether a small piece of something was propping a valve open. And of course, new rings never give the compression when new that they will once bedded in.

The first to do this was a 72 and the second was a 100. Both have turned out to be fine engines.

My Magnum 70 was like that , could not keep fuel down in the engine , thats the reason I put one one on the 72, just to make sure !!

Hi All,

I have a Saito 91 on a Showtime 50. I am using an APC 14x7 prop and set it to a rich 9300-9500 RPM with 15% Omega at my 5000' altitude. I would like to get a little better vertical performance for standard aerobatics, and I don't care about the speed. I wonder if a lower pitch wide blade prop might work better. I would appreciate any advice any of you might offer. Thanks.

Thanks W8ye,

your suggestion of making it rich before adding the glow igniter was the trick. She fired every time without spinning the prop and I had a blast flying my P-51 over the July 4th holidays.

Any suggestion on how to keep retract servos from crapping? I'm using a 6volt battery and there is no binding.
