The Saito 325R seems to be a little more popular than the OS Sirius 300

Help!!!! Is the Saito 5 cylinder sirius a better Engine than the Saito 5 cylinder 325R series and what is the big differance Thanks Ron
The Sirius is made by OS and 3.00 cu. in.
The SAITO 3.25 is .25 cu. in. larger in displacement and the newest version has two glow plugs per cylinder.

Both are fine engines and I have one of each but I like the Saito radial better.

I owned a NIB Saito 3.25 R5 (bought new from Horizon) for a while, but eventually sold it because it used glow fuel. I just couldn't see having to clean up the model all of the time because of glow fuel. Gasoline/oil would have been enough to cause me to keep it and use it. I should have bought one of the RCS small 5 cylinder gas engines years ago when they were about $2750 a piece.

Has anyone seen a real users manual for the R170R3? All I've heard of are the crudely worded xerox copied ones like that with my engine. I'm just wondering if it exists.....well, and to get a copy too.

Does anyone need to join the club? I've had a lot of down time due to illness, so I haven't been able to keep up every day. Just reply here and I'll get on it.

The Horsepower ratings given out by manufacturers are meaningless and useless. They are usually at some unobtainable rpm with a prop that will not fly a plane. Manufacturers also exaggerate the ratings

If you are comparing engines browse through the rpm forum

If so, keep the info out of the forums. Any asking, offering, or actual selling in the forums is not allowed. You use PMs for it.

Here's a scan of the manual that came with my 1.70. I have a much higher resolution scan (600 dpi) that is a 4MB file and won't load on the forum. If you'd like the larger file, PM me an email address and I'll be happy to send.

Are you talking about this plane?

http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products...ProdID=SEA5025

It probably could hover the plane if the weight was kept under 10 lbs. However, it wouldn't be crazy power. If you want that, I'd go bigger than a 125 on it.

Here is a link to some RCU ratings where people flew this plane with a Saito 125. One loved the 125, and one hated it on this plane. Go figure!

http://www.rcuniverse.com/product_gu...fm?kit_id=5520

According to the ratings, it looks like these planes tend to tip stall! Of course all Extras do, to some extent.

The 16 X 8 three blader should be the one to use?

16x10 would be better.

Well guys I have just won a saito 180 with a cracked/broken manifold on E bay. Price was good if it ends up working. It will be shipped to Miami then down to Trinidad. Do you think I should order the entire carburetor and Manifold or just the manifold with a carburetor kit and then see how bad it is when it arrives. Miami is two weeks away for any parts I need and so its a bit of a delay when ever we need anything down here.
