Hello!Hello!Hello! I will not say, how many Saito engines i have.I can say only one - Saito is the BEST!!![sm=thumbs_up.gif][sm=thumbs_up.gif][sm=thumbs_up.gif]The lust one i just got from Horizon Hoby, Saito FG-36.I love this engine.It is allready on my H-9 P-51D "Mustang" 150.

I'm not a member of the "club", but I am a believer. I appreciate the wealth of info in this thread. I own several Saitos ( .56. .91, 2X100s, 2X1.25s, 3X1.80s ). I bought most of them used. Have only had to replace bearings in one of the 100s. I have only been in the hobby since april of 08. I am a returning fixed wing guy from "a long time ago". It was way past time to leave the sport bikes behind. I am getting better at tuning the Saitos, but haven't arrived yet.

I truly enjoy these engines and this threads contribution to our sport.

A truly heartfelt welcome, Bill. At any time in one's life, Saito is a very cool place to be.

You should ask for a number. Our (actually pretty nice but often beleaguered by me) official number-bestowing Mod is always around, keeping an eye out for serious Saito folks to wave his wand at.

Sorta like the tooth fairy, only different. Don't be surprised if you wake up with a 4-stroke glow plug under your pillow.

Awesome bit of info on the Tri-Motor Ed!
We have a guy at our club flying a scratch built Tri-Motor. He built it from three pictures of the plane he found in magazines. It currently runs a single Magnum .91 4 stroke. Not sure what the wingspan is, but its a huge plane.

He doesn't have the internet at home so I like to find bits of information for the Tri-Motor and let him know when I go to the club on Sundays. He already has a wealth of knowledge on the plane, but he hasnt mentioned that little tidbit. I am sure this will brighten his day.

By the way there is something eerie about watching the Tri-Motor do loops. I hate to think what the state of the cabin would be after a manouveur like that in the full scale plane. Broken cane chairs everywhere.

He does fly it in a scale manner. But the loops get a cheer from the peanut gallery every time with that plane


Sorry to get off topic. I do tell him he needs to put three FA-90R3's on it. But he wont have it [>:]

Thanks Ed, I don't have a plane for this engine at the moment, but a big slow flying scale or trainer type plane would be just the ticket. Asa matter fo fact, I do have a 1/3 sig spacewalker kit that might be okay for this engine.........

hello again i have another small question , i have my new and first 4 stroke 125gk i have it running at about 8650 with a apc 16x6 with 10 % coolpower is that about right rpm for it.

I just read your post about the FG-36 engine that you put in your P-51 H9 Mustang. Can you tell me more about that please. I am planning on doing the same thing, so I am very interested in how things have worked for you using the FG-36 in your P-51. I have already purchased the engine and I am just waiting for the P-51 kit to arrive.

I've got four of 'em. Three are currently in use and fly regularly. The three power a 1/3 Sig Spacewalker, a Byron Staggerwing and a 1/3 J-3 Kitten. The fourth is brand new, never seen fuel and still in the box. You will love this engine. Attached is a scan of the manual if you need one. Enjoy!

Hi Mike!Of course I'm not gonna keep this in a secret!.Initial installation manual i found on a "Horizon Hobby" site http://www.horizonhobby.com/Articles...ArticleID=1776 instead of original engine mount i used a universal alloy mount.
beside of that i used original fuel tank w gasoline proof stopper,for brake-in i used a Zinger wooden prop 18x6.I will bring this airplane to "Warbird over Delavere" this Saturday.

I'm with you on biplanes, especially Staggerwings. Here's another pic. The yellow Byron is 77" wingspan, the red Top Flite is 72 1/2". The red one is powered by a 2.40 v-twin not manufactured by Saito [X(]

I have to agree with JDKExtreme, I was using a 20 x 8 Zinger prop on my Saito 2.20, and had no complaints. Looped for level flight at 3/4 throttle. I put on one of the XOAR WWI scale looking props, aslo a 20 x 8. HOLY CRAP!!!! Loops are done at 1/2 throttle now. Take off was really short, and the sound is better too. Try a XOAR once, see if you agree.

The PDF manual is the right one for this early 270T. It is interesting to see all the planes you have been using this engine in. Those are great looking planes BTW.

I also happen to have a new ENYA 2.40 V-twin, socked away for a rainy day I guess. The Enya is my only other big glow twin cylinder engine. I can't afford to collect too many of these somewhat expensive engines.
