Make sure you use the largest tubing that will fit on the breather nipple. That will not affect the flow.

I use Sullivan Silicone Fuel Line Large 5/32" for my breather nipples. I also use a fuel line clip.

Any size you use will be larger than the hole in the brass fitting so its not critical.

ram3500,

Thanks, we are looking forward to some videos. I would like some pics of the install if you have them.

Jim
Here are the engines with the new mufflers. I'm adding a pipe to get the exhaust out of the cowl. I'm also modifying the cowls for the new openings. I'll post the completed install after paint.

But you could buy aftermarket heads and items to individualise the engines. I know thats pointless when building a scale plane. But I would have thought the 3D and aerobat guys would be interested.

That's cool. [8D]
Not sure I like the yellow, but at least it looks different to every other engine out there.

Is that anodised or painted?

Could you post a larger picture? From my screen, something the same size of the thumbnail pops up.

My LHS sells O.S and Cool Power only. There has to be more to life than that.

I have had very good success on eBay and in the ad forum here on this site. In the last couple decades, I have only gotten one bad engine, a Saito 120. It had almost no compression and noisy bearings. I contacted the guy and told him about it and he refunded my money including shipping both ways and I sent it back. Check the sellers Karma and history, ask questions to nail down the condition and deal, and one can pick up some nice buys. (The golden Knight 100 on my P-38 I found on eBay for $125!)

Nice job. Looks like we can turn those Saitos into Golden Knights pretty easily.

Here is a video of the engines trails of my P-38 with the new Turbo Headers installed.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GSOKZHEk7Ck

After this video, I tweaked the tuning on the port engine (notice the pilot looking at that engine)and upon checking the needle settings after shut-down, I found that they were within two clicks of each other. Much closer than with the stock mufflers. Perhaps this is due to the slight increase in fuel pressure with these pipes, which may also explain the quicker throttle response I noticed.

I followed the installation instructions (with the Teflon tape) and also found that they were as tight hot as cold. Very nice. I don't see these coming loose.

Very nice Jim.

Golden EAGLES????

Hehehehe.

Golden Knight, Golden Eagle, whatever. Saitos are Great. But you WILL need the Brass-colored Valve covers. Or else those cool new ones with the fins a page or so north of here..

THEN it would probably be able to be called a GOLDEN EAGLE!!!!

YEAH, BABY!!!

Made the correction. Sorry, my brain passed gas.

A guy showed me some stuff a few years ago that anodizes in gold with a small electrical charge. Very slick. I'll have to look him up and refresh my details on it. It would make stock valve covers gold in a matter of a couple seconds.

What are the chances I can pull a Saito .65 off the bottom of a marsh/swamp/pond with a magnet? It's got to be down there (8') somwhere. The motor mount snapped in half and took the engine, cowl and prop down with it. I'm thinking about getting a magnet from Home Depot, the kind used for picking up nails, and fishing for it that way. The entire area is swampy, even the grassy stuff is in +2 ft of water. Is there enough steel in the engine to pick it up? The plane was recovered from the swamp, minus engine. Where I am at in the picture it's atleast 8' deep. We tried using a rake but the bottom is thick weeds. Any tips?

Ryan
Well after some "fishin" on RCU market place I found a Saito 56. I still haven't found my 65 but haven't given up on it yet either. I thought now would be a good time to join Club Saito before I loose this one. I plan on putting it on my GP Super Sportster 40.

Thanks all,

Ryan
