The hot glue didn't help matters on the UCD. It seems they must have changed things after the problems. Kinda like the Funtana 40.

I have a UCD 60 and the elevator is mounted on top of the fuselage and I have a Sullivan tail wheel assembly on it. The counter balances catch some of the little occasional tall weeds that stick up but it hasn't been a problem.

I would use a 16 - 8 on a new one.
I ran a more or less standard fuel line set up and didn't have any trouble
The engine did everything as hoped

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !
Just finished my second day of flying with the Diablo and the Saito 180. Wow what an engine and what a great old a plane. Full of power and easy to start now that I have a high tork starter. I am using a 16/8 nylon prop. What is a pleasant surprise is how economical this engine is. Ten minutes flying with my 21 oz garden spray can fuel tank and I still have a half tank to go. Flew for about 40 minutes this morning. Well done Saito.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !
I'm a little bummed because I am pretty certain that Powermaster has closed its doors, nobody can reach them. My newer Saitos ran great on their 20/20 YS-Saito fuel, and a couple of guys cleaned out the hobby shop (I don't blame them) of the 20/20.
From experience I can safely say that I'd rather never start a Saito again than run Cool Power, and nobody here sells Wildcat fuels...nobody that I can find so far, at least..
And my Waco has a Saito 150 in it, can't take that out with a matching faux radial built around it. I'm sure I'll figure it out, but I'm bummed for now...
****SIGH****
Hmmmm...I wonder if Powermaster is for sale? (The company)....I'd give it some serious thought..... kinda overkill just to make sure my Saito purrs, I have to admit...

Just using the word "Cool Power" does not mean a whole lot within itself now days
There's a difference in the lube package on 15% Cool Power and Cool Power 30% Heli as it has 22% synthetic.
20% Heli is 20-20 and should run good in a Saito
Also four stroke Cool Power may have some castor in it.
When people are downing Cool Power, they are most likely referring to 10% or 15% regular Aero Cool Power with 17% synthetic.
http://www.morganfuel.com/cp_blends.htm
You may want to start a Cool Power thread as this is the Saito thread
I will not let it be Hijacked like one of you tried to do over in another forum.

RE: Welcome to Club SAITO !
I want to run a three blade prop in a Saito 82. I tried the graupner 12.5X7 and got 8000 rpm. I usually use an APC 14X6 two blade and it spins at about 9300 rpm. My question to the gallery, is the 8000 rpm ok or is that too much load. The model is a TF B-25, so reliability is a must.
Thanks in advance for your ideas.

It all depends on how it flies for you? Graupners tend to load the engines more than some other brands But the important part is how you like it in the air

Since nothing else has been said and I'm not interrupting anything right now,
I'm wondering why a Graupner prop or a Dynathrust prop or a Zinger prop have anything more to do with Saitos than the fuel they burn, whatever the brand.
They are exactly the same. Different ones provide more or less power.
So, why is it that I am hijacking a thread when I talk about the fuels I like to use with my Saitos, when I see YOU talking about this or that prop?
And why shouldn't I and 5 thousand other Saito users be concerned when one of the BEST fuel companies in the world suddenly closes its doors?
That's simply unfair.
I guess maybe Graupner will need to close up shop before you understand, though.
I've said all I have to say about it. I'm right and you know it, but go ahead and delete it.

Just wanted to cut out the priming tube and will use two fingers over the pipes when priming. We pay about ten bucks a ltr for 15% nitro fourstroke fuel here.I can buy methanol for a dollar four per ltr,any advice re components and mixing?

Install a cheap Chinese spark unit and then run no nitro fuel. This nitro stuff is a load of manure. If you need more power, buy a larger engine. You have zero resale value for used nitro, but the larger engine will return you a good bit of its purchase price. But what the hey, I'm talking to T.O.M. who already knows all of this stuff.
Nitro is good when your power is limited by a displacement limit. Additional Displacement is the way to go when there is no displacement limit. Sometimes you can gain additional displacement while losing weight. That's a real Win-Win situation. Buy the larger engine used and in excellent condition and you can pay for the cheap Chinese ignition system. Then it's Win-Win-Win!!! 8>)

You can have mine. I'm serious. You're number 641, and I'll remove it from my Signature.
But remember, you'd better only talk about the aspects THEY want you to talk about. YOUR accessories don't count, THEIRS do.
Nice kiss-up with the fuel, though, you should fit right in.
unsubscribed.

I realize 18x6 is top whack prop wise once run in,are you saying 16x6 for a gentler initial run?

My engine runs fine without any fancy fuel plumbing. I just use a tee close to the carbs
I don't use the fancy priming harness

If you want to get by with 15%, try Magnum. My FA80 and FA91S run great on it.
