Ok guys got a question:

Is there anyway to convert a Saito56 so it will counter rotate the prop?  I am planning my build of a twin WWII plane and am checking my options.

$300 is a bit rich for a 30, but I don't think many would be mounted in an airframe. I'm sure a few years down the track the resale value will increase.

I wonder how many people are willing to shell out $300 for that engine? They say only 1000 to be made and they have to be backorderd. I wonder also how rare they will become?

I've just become the proud owner of my first Saito engine...a Saito FA-115 that I purchased used. The engine is mounted in a Twist 60 and sounds incredibly powerful.
I can't wait for nicer weather so I can go out and actually fly the thing.
Please consider this my request to join Club Saito...I look forward to owning many more Saito's in the future!
-Mike

I have a Twist 60 with a Saito 125. I really enjoy it. I ran 12 gallons of fuel through it last summer.

Take off with half throttle. The only time I use full throttle is going straight up.

I run a APC 16-6 prop

I have a Saito 30 fs that needs a new needle valve assembly or a replacement Carb. I snapped the tube off outboard of the fuel nipple in a crash and it is almost an impossible fix. Appreciate any help or ideas. Vic

Well Guys its back. It is a bit tail heavy so thats a problem I will deal with next week. I had to add a bit of epoxy and micro balloons to get the tail back on. She is still a bit under 10 pounds and the target build weight is 9.5 lbs. I hung a 6 oz. pack of weight off the nose and that still did not do it. I have a friend who is a great builder so I will bring it over to his shop and we will decide what to do.

Ok Ill eat my words. My dad and I just decided to buy one of these gold plated saito .30's. He is going to place his order for one so we will see what happens. Anyone else decided yet if they are going to get one?

UPDATE:
My dad placed his order and it went through. Total came to $307.98 out the door

Yes, the same cam fits the 62, 65, 72, 80, 82, 91, 100, 115, and 125 but it is too big physically to fit in the 50 and 56.

I think I remember you. I was flying back then, and have not been very active the past year due to some health issues. I've been back out there some, and have a new pattern plane to fly. It has an .82a on it. If you ever saw a guy flying the ugliest, multicolored Somethin' Extra that would have been me.

Thanks for the help but it won't fit. Mine has a tube with threads on the out side that thread to the carb body. It broke out board of the the fuel port nipple with the attached needle. Vic

Hi again,
I just got an e-mail from Horizon Hobby. The techs said that the cam for the 56 is
Cam Gear,Left:R,S,AA
part number SAI130T34. I have one order.
http://www.advantagehobby.com/produc...017&quantity=1

I will let you-all know if it works out.

I seriously doubt that will work for it is the cam for the left cylinder on a horizontal opposed twin Saito 100T. It will fit but I'm not so sure about the timing as that cylinder has the intake where you have the exhaust.

The number I gave you was for the rear cylinder on the inline twin 100Ti which runs the other direction on the cylinder with the intake and exhaust where they are now on your engine. But the cam doesn't fit the 56.

You are going to have fun setting the cam timing with the cam you ordered.

The engine will run but I don't think it will run with the same power like your other engine.
