It was the one I was looking for the measurement on.
That was the distance from the front end of the drive hub to the front end of the valve covers. Just to see if it will fit in the cowl.

That dimension is not shown. However, from center of two mounting holes to the hub is 69mm. I hope this helps.

I measured my 100T and it is 1 3/8" from the position of the back of the prop at the drive flange to the front edge of the valve covers

I purchased the 100t a couple of months ago to install in a TF 182. I have the engine mounted and it fits pretty nice. I am using thefiberglass cowl from fiberglass specialties: http://www.fiberglassspecialtiesinc.com/newprod.htm I had to dimple the cowl slightly for the top rockers and you need to cut hole for the two needle valves. I will post a couple of pictures late rtoday of the installation.

Actually it is a clubmember of www.oemf.dk and a colleque of mine Thomas who's got a Top Flite Cessna 182 and was looking for an engine. That was a really nice one that twin. Almost got tempted myself. But now he seems settled on a FG-14 that a guy in the other end of this country has bought by mistake and wants to sell for half price. Not too bad. My FG-14 fits nicely in there. And I'll find a plane for that one some day. Decided not to put it on my 1/5 Piper Cub as it's on floats and is going to meet salty water if the summer gets good.
Of other Saito's I got a FA-56 in the front of a Nitro Models Cessna 337. And a FG-36 that's waiting for my KMP Typhoon to assemble itself.
Those ARF-planes must be of a fairer gender. Almost Ready to Fly. Well get ready then. I'm waiting.

OKmodels 30 size Sukhoi. Absolutely beautiful plane. It will be a while before it gets flown. Little engine looks tiny on it ,but it weighs nothing.

Spent most of this arvo screwing up the cam timing on my 115 think i started it by putting the wrong reference mark outside on the prop driver and case.Since then it's been hours of whistling and joy.I can get the inlet valve at 2 thou rotate the crank 360 and at a guess have an easy 50 thou gap,bit of a bother

You have to rotate 720 degrees to get a repeat

But to get that much difference, you were not in the correct spot to begin with?

Why not set the intake when the exhaust is fully open and the exhaust when the intake is fully open?

Hey all
Seen this thread and the name just sounds great,” CLUB SAITO", just has a certain ring to it.
Just purchased a 120 Christen Eagle with a Saito 180 mounted in the front. This will be my first four stroke so I may need a lot of help. I just can't wait to hear this thing run.

I used to have a Saito 180 a few years ago on a Lanier bipe.. about a 5 foot wingspan and 13 pounds. The 180 pulled it around like a foamy. You should like the Christen Eagle with that motor.

Thats about the weight if my Christen Eagle and the Ws is 62". So I believe your dead on, it should pull it around like a feather. The last owner was turning a 18x6-10 prop so that's what i'm going to start with.I hope it can survive the first flight with me on the sticks. This is also my first Bipe and anything larger than a .46 size. I realy like the looks of the Christen, but in honesty I bought it for the engine.

There's a guy at our field with a Christen Eagle and an OS 300 twin on it... it's a very fast plane. If I remember, he has to land it a little fast. I don't know if that's the case with all Eagles, or if it's just his setup. I fly a lot of biplanes, but I never had to land one as fast as he does that one.

Just keep it high on the first flight and see where the stall speed is... then stay above that for the landing. You don;t want it to snap out 2 feet from the ground!


I just put a Saito 450 in the biplane in my avatar.. but it weighs almost 30 pounds. Flies like a trainer, sounds like a Harley, and it will float forever on the landings.... a completely different flying style than with I normally do, but sort of fun.

Hi,

I was just give an old FA 50. It is missing a muffler, and is certainly seen some use but seems to have good compression. I put some oil in it and then a little fuel and it fired, so it seems worth buying a muffler.

I have a couple of questions. When did the FA50 go out of production?

I have several 40 size planes - I have a couple of OS 46AXs, a couple of YS-63s.

What size/weight plane will this small four stroke power? I would like to have something reasonable aerobatic.
