They are just easier to deal with when on the side. They do not make more power.

If yours is easy to start and keep running inverted - leave it that way.

Question: I'm running a Saito 115 on a Venus II and the fuel tank is located right against the firewall. I would like to mount it closer to the C/G. If I move it 6 1/4" back, the rear of the tank will be sitting on the C/G. Will the 115 pull fuel OK or will I need to give it a boost with some kind of pump?

You will need to pressurize the tank with a check valve in your muffler pressure line and use a Cline regulator at the carb

You can try a Perry Vibrating model but some people have trouble getting the carb balanced

Hi all,

I have a few saito engines,1x .56, 2x.62, 1x.72, 1x.82 and 1x.125 and have enjoyed reading all the posts in this forum and of course my Saito's.I recently purchased stainless bearings from RC bearings to replace the originals as on a couple of engines they have become a bit rough,yes i use after run although unfortunately i live in a area with high humidity.
I am posting with regard to the bearings received.I replaced a set in my .82,only gone as far bearing/crankshaft/prop driver fitment and am shocked at the amount of radial play in these bearings.I can shake the case and it sounds like a kids rattle and i can feel/visually see the crankshaft movement.The crank to bearing fit was tight and bearing to case fit is good.I have checked the rest of the bearings received and they all have very sloppy clearances.They actually have more slop than a clapped out set.I also noticed the bore of the bearings slid on the crank part way from one side but when turned around would not slide onto the crank suggesting a tapered bore.There is no manufacturer marking on any of the bearings.
Surely this cant be normal and the quality of bearings from RC Bearings is suspect.
I have sent Paul an email with what i have found and am waiting on a reply.I purchased from RC bearings due to the many recommendations in this forum and others and i am quite dissapointed with the bearings received.
Has anyone of you come across this issue?.Has the quality slipped from what i have read it to be?.

I've purchased numerous bearing sets from Paul (all standard bearings) and have never had a problem with them. I'd await Paul's response, perhaps there is something 'unique' or 'special' about the particular bearings you purchased.

G'day Raven,

I had the choice of three types,standard,stainless,ceramic.Each set i have was purchased as a listed kit for the particular engine.Nothing noted with reference to unique or special on the webpage listing.I wont be using these bearings i've received,obviously.
I will wait for Paul's reply however.

Craig, I am a long standing customer of BOCA Bearings, if you get a set from them they will be precise, silent and it will be a long time before they need replaced.
Boca is having a $11.88 free shipping sale right now. Maybe not free shipping to OZ.

I have a sneaking suspicion the bearings i have are cheap chinese knock offs,and certainly not ABEC 3 grade.
I'll take a look at the Boca Bearing site and thankyou for the recommendation.

You're welcome Craig, I have bought and installed both ends of the BOCA price range, I put BOCA Ceramics in a Fox .50 I have converted to Diesel and and their cheapys in an ancient Webra .61 that belongs to a friend. I also put a set of their HiSpeed bearings in a well worn Enya .46 MKII that I bought new in 1990. All are still going strong. My friend passed away recently so I may end up with that old Webra and a YS .53 I sold to him.

I'm buying a set of bearings for another engine from Advantage Hobby. Horizon was about $3 cheaper than RC Bearings. Advantage is $1.60 cheaper than Horizon and shipping is free. They carry Saitos and parts.

I am currently still waiting on a reply from Paul at RC Bearings.
Miss the days when you could get exactly what you wanted over the counter same day or next day from the local bearing supplier at reasonable cost.

I am trying to mount a Saito 1.00 on its side, go figure the throttle arm is giving me tonns of grief (inverted its great haha). It is not linear as in it needs to be pulled back more towards the fire wall than being pushed forward to close and open the carb. Problem is I need it to go more forward. I see there is a nut (allen) on the plactic arm, am I able to take this nut out and pull the arm off the carb and move it forward to my liking. Is there anything to be aware of, does this effect the low speed or do I have to take the low speed out first.. Thanks

Slats, you can position the arm any where around the carb barrel you want it. It is independent of the LS needle.

I did an interesting, (at least to me) comparo between and older FA .40 Saito and a new .40a that I bought from MM37.

Fuel===WildCat 15% with 18% all synthetic
Prop===Bolly 10.5x6
RPM first run
Saito FA .40 rpm===10,744 with Fox Miracle plug
Idle rpm=========2,150

Saito .40a rpm====10,438 with Taipan 4c plug.
Idle rpm=========1,750
Switched to Fox Miracle
Max rpm========10,744
Idle rpm=========1,950
The .40a is a real ticker when it comes to idle with either plug.

Did not run the FA .40 with the Taipan

Jim, other than the heighth there is very little difference in the .40a and the little .30, the .40a is slightly wider than the .30. Here is something you may be interested in, the .30 has the deep resonant sound of a much larger engine. The can on the .40a muffler is 43mm long, the can on the .30 is 23mm long but the .30 muffler has long tube before the muffler. Something for a sound and pressure wave guy to ponder?

Hey Bob, my wife says I'm a fast pitcher taker. FA .40 has modern cast muffler, .40a and .30 have their stock mufflers, all have the nuts that came on them.
FA .40===15.8oz
.40a====10.8oz
.30GK====9.5oz
