man I think my satio 150 is going to be too small to fly my 1/4 sig spacewalker2..it's all done and with fuel it will weigh in at 13pounds..can the satio really a plane that heavy.the kit says the weight is anywhere from 11 to 13 pounds and they show on the planes a satio 120..now I am wondering if it will fly or just lug around the sky..I could save up and buy a gas engine.I see the 180 is available as a gas engine at a whopping 639 bucks..I think I can get a 26 or 30 for much less.but I want to use my satio.am I worrying too much??

I been flying my Sig SpacewalkerII 120 ARF with the Saito 1.80. It flies with ease at half throttle. Use full throttle for loops, wing overs, etc. A Saito 1.20 will fly it, but it will be really more like the real thing.

Anyone heard anything about PowerMaster fuel. I read somewhere that it was being manufactured again somewhere in Texas. I have always used PowerMaster 15% Nitro, 18% synthetic/caster oil.
This is true but the original marketing organization is gone. It will take a little time to get it around everywhere again.

Best I can figure, the company that sells it now has actually made it for Powermaster for a few years?

They used to be about a half an hour east of me from Round Rock over in Elgin. They've moved to Elmendorf, SE of San Antonio.

Before changing ownership some years back I remember visiting their facility and they mixed their own.

At any rate, it's good to see them back. Maybe purely from habit they've been my preferred brand. Been using 15% w/ 18% castor/synthetic blend in my 4 strokes and it has always been just fine.

so john if your 180 flies it at half throttle it stands to reason the 150 should be ok.at least I can give it a go .I do have a 180 but that flies my dynaflite 19.

OK....great. Now here is one for everyone. I have 2 gallons of CoolPower 25% nitro, 18% oil. Have never run this high of nitro in my Saito engines. Is there any way to get the nitro content down to about 15%. Not sure by the label if this is synthetic oil or a blend of castor and synthetic. Not really sure I want to run this high nitro stuff in my engines since all they have ever had is PowerMaster fuel 15% nitro, 18% synthetic/castor blend. Suggestions.

thanks ..I really loved how the build turned out and built it around my satio 150..I recently bought a dle30 but thats going into my extra 260 ..I figure a gas engine on my spacewalker will just add more unecessary weight.this is not a 3d performance lol.

while on the subject of glow fuel.would 20 percent give a boost in power performance on my satio 150??

what the heck I might just give it a try this late in the season.I have always used 15 percent .what props do you use or suggest on the 150.I just bought a couple xoar's for my dle 30 .maybe a 17x6 xoar??

and lastly did you run a remote igntion .I really dont want the extra weight and the 150 is not new I flew it in a seagull laser and ran fine.

The 150 does not need a glow plug booster for low speed.

But the remote glow plug connector is easily attached.

I converted my 150 to gasoline and it has CH ignition on it.

ok now I gotta ask what gas motor you used.I have several remote ignitors and I agree on this motor a remote igntion is really uneeded.my thinking is to just get the plane flying and if I am not happy with the performance then over the winter get a gas motor.

A inverted Zenoa G20 would adapt easily

But the new DLE 20 & 30 could be put in it.

Mike 109, the Saito 65 works well in the 85% Bomber now all you have to do to get really good performance in the Texaco event is to mix the throttle with the spoiler drum control (It is on the top on my JR radios).  You make this the master with the normal throttle the slave.  Once you have done that (oh yes make sure you can switch between the 2) you then set the "master throttle" (controlled by the spoiler / flap s/w to give you approx 4000 rpm on the ground.  
Then for take off (when you require controlled power you use the normal throttle control.  Once the climb is established you switch back to the spoiler / flap switch controlled throttle to give you a fixed speed climb out.
If you can understand that you will find your engine run times will increase significantly.
My mentor designed this one and in one of the rounds (one day) asked the CD if it was ok to land with the engine running after the 10 minutes were up  Blew the competition away and was another good win for us.  For reference the model had a 5 pound fuel allocation and it was a 85% Bomber.  It was running a 15 x 8 APC with a climb RPM of 4200 RPM
Lastly if you do decide to use it in Duration cut the prop sixe down to about a 13x6 (APC or Bolly if you can get it) 40% nitro and hang on.  Just watch the wing flutter and pull more vertical if it does, mine climbs out at about 85 degrees when run in Duration

Run the engine properly rich (slightly) and you will not gunk up the valves appreciably. A little tan coloration means that you are treating it just right.

Expecting your valves to stay completely clean forever, regardless of the lubricant, is unrealistic. Just like air cooled motorcycle engines, model engine need an occasional disassembly every five to six years, depending upon their treatment and the fuel used. Keep using fuel with a little castor oil in it and you will have an engine that is worth the trouble of disassembly and cleaning. Naturally, if the engine isn't use frequent over those years, you may never actually reach a point where the engine needs to be disassembled and cleaned.

I have an old saito 120 ABC that came to me with gold rocker covers. I don't know if that was the way they were sold or someone changed out the silver ones for gold. Anyone know? Thanks.

I run them on 10% all the time and Hobbsy uses 5% sometimes

They run stronger with high nitro but they run OK on low nitro too

I have been running my Saitos (8) for the last 20+ years with 15% Omega with 2OZ of castor added per gallon and they have always made the numbers Saito says they should. I have never seen the need for the additional cost.
