thats the same tach I'm using and it's been serving well for the cheap price...and my 1.30 twin doesn't tach what it supposed to according to the review posted a couple pages back, though I'm usuing a Pro-Zinger 15x6 and not the regular Zinger 15x6 thats in the review, gonna try a 16x4WAPC prop next...always had luck with the APC props...

I have just finished putting new bearings in my 82 and after putting it all together I destroyed my prop flange.
I always just tighten the prop nut with a propeller on to install the collet (flange). No heat necessary.

I would have to compare my hangar9 tach to a Yugo not even close to a ford or chevy. I have heard of these tachs just dont want to drop a hundred bucks on one.

I use an old plastic prop, or a wood one that is broken Just to be sure not to damage a good prop.

Hub Installation

Place the collet in position first

Set the prop drive hub over the collet

Put the prop you will be using in position on engine

Install prop washer/nuts - Tighten in normal manner - go fly.

The bigger Saitos require something with some real power plus heat and maybe a hammer

A battery terminal puller is a joke in this situation

If anyone watched the video that was recommended in this forum a bit earlier, showing a Saito inline twin powering a model of a Chipmunk, pay attention to the difficulty that the pilot was having while taxiing the model, all because he did not use up elevator to keep the rear end planted on the ground. Just a little oversight like this can eventually lead to a broken prop and possibly a bent crankshaft in his engine.

I have used the Hangar 9, GloBee and Fromeco tachs. All have worked well enough. The fromeco will give a reading from a bit greater distance.

I also have an ancient Vibra-Tach that reads very close to the electronic tachs, though I have not tried it on a 4-stroke. (Never have to replace a battery)

The Fromeco always seemed accurate quicker than the Hobbico. First readings were always good and steady. Yep, distance wise you can let your ankles hold the stab and tach the prop standing up. Also, the position of the sun doesn't seem to matter with it.

It is called lack of piloting skill. Something that his instructor should have taught him. I don't mean my comment to be offensive. I would just like folks to think more about what they are doing when they are trying to fly a model airplane, is all.

After he landed, I saw him raise the flaps and from my experience, you just cannot taxi with the flaps down. Engine power will raise the tail.

With conventional landing gear, engine power will always raise the tail, with or without flaps or tall grass. It is normal to taxi a conventional landing gear aircraft while holding up elevator (heading upwind) and relax it slowly with the application of power on the takeoff run.

I'm not trying to be argumentative. It's just that the thought of the bill he will have to pay to get that crankshaft straightened or replaced makes me wince.
