Great selection, my Tiger 60 is the red ARF with an early high compression Saito .80, my Tiger 120 is going to wear a SuperTigre .90 Diesel conversion which turns a 15x8 APC at 9,400 rpm.

Very interesting! I have a DD head for my ST 90 and was curious how to prop it and what to expect. You saved me asking.

On another note - I was installing new bearings in a friend's Saito 180 and I lost one of the top rubber bushings for the pushrod tubes. I stole one from one of my 150s so he could get in the air. Does anyone have one (used is OK) laying around extra? The 120/150/180 are all the same part. I'll gladly cover the cost and postage, but ordering from Horizon when I don't need anything else is silly.

Most local Hobby stores will throw your order in when they make thiers.

Even the small LHSs up here in the boonies make an order to Horrizon @ least once a week.

My guess would be LS needle too lean, Saitos idle pretty well when too rich, too lean they don't idle at all. If you watch closely while it quits it will quit slowly when too rich and quit instantly when too lean.

Can you "borrow" a tank of fuel from a buddy and see if that helps?

A similar incident happened to me last year with my Saito 1.80. There is a little screw that goes through the carb body and into a slot in the carb barrel. This screw keeps the carb barrel lined up when rotating and without it, the barrel will eventually slide off. In my case, the throttle pushrod held the barrel partially in place, but not enough to cause it from sliding out a bit, causing air leaks. It's a long shot, but won't hurt to check.

I was getting around that speed with my Saito 1.80 with an MAS 18x6. I can't remember taching with 15%, but it didn't feel much more powerful, if any.

Mine turns an 18x8 @ 8000 W/15% nitro on glow ignition. (under ideal conditions)

Given the probable slight drop in power for 5% I would say that you are about right.

On your Saito 100, if the LS tuning was right on the edge of being too lean you might not have noticed it until a change of season and barimetric pressure rolled in. You didn't change the nitro percentage in the fuel did you?

No, I didn't change the nitro percent, this happened from one flight to the next. Bummm started with one flip, nice iddle perfect. 15 mins later don't want to start, I forced it with the electric starter and it fired but when going to iddle it hesitates and quits. Since I wanted to fly I adjusted the subtrim for the throttle and flew her hot.

It would help to know what you mean by "at idle it makes a weird noise and dies" as this definitely could point to a mechanical problem within the engine. You could have a problem with the valvetrain or even something loose that would affect mixture. If you rotate the prop slowly by hand how does it feel?

One other thing to check would be to see if you have partially or fully blocked the carb fuel inlet or feed system with a bit of crud, (the reason a filter is such a good idea). If you have access to the fuel feed line you can check this by blowing into the carb inlet while working the throttle. Even at idle there should be some indication of flow into the carb.

You also did not mention if the behavior changed if you left the glow heat on at idle. If the glow plug is healthy the reaction when power is removed can tell a lot about mixture.
