Have never been able to overheat my rxs - perhaps you have more sensitive equip. There were some early rx designs which were very heat sensitive - in that case take care!!!

I see no problem IF that's IF you place the rx well away from engine /fuel tank and servos .
My favorite setup is to place rx in canopy and long lead/antenna in belly of model.

This is actually very easy to do: First , remember that voltages are the same throughout the wiring system UNLESS there is a device which can change it .

FWIW- a lipo on a reg is no insurance against power failure
In my book it is not a desireable setup. Why you see this as a DX8 issue is not rational.

Don't want to get into a pcontest but a 5 cell batt under extreme load ( relative to radiosetup )should never have gone lower than 5 volts in any case!.
My 6 volt setups under max test...
